Vogue Australia September 2007 : Alice Burdeu by Troyt Coburn

yes i was shocked either but Suvi won Finland's next top model, she doesn't look like reality star at all

:ninja: They gave a reality "star" a Vogue cover.
Oh wait, it's Vogue Aus--never mind.

Suvi? Nicole T? Both of those models won model tv show contests.

Also, are you aware that Gemma Ward was on a tv model contest too? (She didn't win, Nicole Trunfio won, but she was on Search for a Supermodel for the first rounds, before she was famous).

I know US Top Model, isn't actually about finding top models, but here in Australia, it is. I applaud Vogue for not only creating an original and homegrown cover, but for choosing Alice to star, rather than some monotonous reprint of a US Vogue celebrity.

Though you do have to keep in mind that even though Gemma, Nic Trunfio and Suvi were in model reality tv shows, they went out and did the rounds of the industry before landing a cover.

None of them landed a VOGUE cover right off the bat.

Perhaps it's the identity Vogue Aus want to create for it's self - win a tv modeling comp and get a Vogue cover?

i think we better wait til the covers show up before passing on judgements.

^Agreed. And there's a seperate thread on Vogue Australia to voice your opinions on how bad you think it is

The prize was only a Vogue editorial - from what I gather the cover wasn't part of the prize, but perhaps the editorial was so good they felt it deserved the cover.

I think America's Next Top Model has created this stereotype that if you were on a modelling reality show then you would be a "model"...in Australia they actually pick girls who have some potential where in America they really don't have any at all.

Well we will see soon if she actually deserved the cover, but hey they could of could of put another celebrity on the cover, it would still be a bad issue. Australia Vogue don't have anything to lose at this point.

I think it does say something about Vogue Australia, as I doubt any other Vogue would put a reality show model on the cover, no matter how amazing she was.

(I think it's a bit different with Suvi since most people had no idea that she was a former "model school" winner when Miuccia decided that she was the chosen one. Outside of Finland and tFS, she wasn't known as Suvi, the Mallikoulu winner, just Suvi Koponen, moderately successful model)

That said, I think Alice has a nice look. I'm not sure what her modeling skills are like, but appearance wise she's right up there with the best. Or not quite, but she'd definitely pass for a working runway model. It's not Jaslene from ANTM we're talking about (thank god ).

The cover! She is so beautiful

God, I love her. She's one of the VERY VERY few NTM contestants who are REALLY of high fashion model quality. I hope there will be a lot of different faces of Alice in this mag AND in future.

Prove 'Em Wrong Alice! Show 'Em that you can show loads n loads of emotion. (And I hope to see her for S/S Couture!)

Edit: And I just realized.... that hair makes her head look HUGE! And her body totally PETITE! Shouldn't have done it like that....

But she looks very doll like!
