Vogue Australia September 2007 : Alice Burdeu by Troyt Coburn

^if it's any comfort to anyone, i wouldn't take anything eccentricity says too seriously. he's notorious in other threads for posting false information and somewhat aggressive responses. with that said, i think the cover is beautiful, and i always love a fresh face, even if she came to us via a reality show.

Catherine Mcneill went from nothing to a Paris vogue cover and V cover in months! she did one show in NY, many in paris and milan, but its not like she was working hard for ages to get where she is.

Actually Cath has been modeling on and off since she was around 14 :P Just in Aus though.

Alice, on the other hand, hasn't done much except for the shoots on the show and walking at Australian Fashion Week. She was scouted by Next a couple of years ago though, but wanted to wait til she was older.

To me, shes just not a legitimate model.. Suvi went through the paces for many seasons beofre debuting in the fashion limelight by opening Prada, that was her "break", smililarly, Gemma Ward was in the audience of a fashion competition and was flown to Milan to the Prada show, whereas this girl went on TV and got a complimentary cover simply because physcially her characteristics are regal and she embodies all the typical model attributes. Its somewhat unfair to other models to struggle through castings, futile shoots and auditions and dont book anything as prestigious as a Vogue cover, It took Raquel/Jessica/Lily years to get the cover of American Vogue. Australian Vogue seriously needs new managment and should endorse genuine models who have been around for more than two seconds.

It's actually extremely rare for Australian Vogue to put a model on the cover who isn't international/well-established. In the past 3-4 years, when models have been on there (rather than celebs), the only new/unknown model to star was Katie Braadvedt (Apr 2007).

really? fashion is fickle, about the next fresh face.
It's the same argument. Why is it okay for a new girl whose only resume consists of a handful of polaroids and a couple of tests, to get to walk for prestigious brands such as Prada and star in the campaign too -- a booking that most models could only dream of getting -- yet it's not okay for a new girl with the same lack of experience to be on the cover of Vogue? (and we're taking about a minor edition here).

Georgia Frost is another example of a girl who scored some pretty major bookings for someone who had little-to-none experience.

I think, really, you are only judging Alice because she was on the show. No more, no less. If she hadn't been on the show and was just a 'new face' model who happened to book the cover, I doubt you'd be questioning her legitimacy to such a degree.

The cover is amazing... the editorial pics are great too! Alice looks so beautiful. I pretty happy with Aus Vogue right about now!

you took the words out of my mouth

I bought the magazine yesterday... it's okay.
I was a little disappointed with Alice's ed, it didn't really suit her, although she still looked beautiful. I guess probably because it was in between 2 other eds that had at least some energy to them, so when I got to Alice's it just seemed rather dull. They should've made it longer too.

I found another page of Alice's edit. Could someone scan it completely? (I don't think it has been, at least)

*Bianca* i agree Alice's editorial was quite disappointing. I hope to see her in upcoming issues.

The Dior ed model is definitely Solange

I loved the Fall coverage, the Dior ed and all the ads at the front - I love collecting ads

^ hehehe me too! I was so excited to see all the new ads in print!

I'm sorry but the COVER IS A COPY of gemma ward's picture featured in Vogue about Top models. it seems like theyre trying to hard just to make her seem like the next top model. see the resemblance?

the gold chair, the hair, the arms, the hand, just everything about it looks like a copy to me. AND if any one thinks otherwise i ask you to look at all previous vogue australia covers and editorials. the majority of them are copies of something else.

^^Um...i really doubt they saw Gemmas picture and went;"Lets copy that pose"!Fashion i s repetitve, there is only so many poses models can do,and its probably all been done before,so you could find similarities anywhere if you set out to search for them!Besides its not exactly the same pose to me,her hands are in different position and one is a cover and other just a feature picture.
I think the cover and the edit are absoloutley wonderful, specially knowing how bad their covers usually are.

I agree with you that their covers are really bad and im a fan of alice, but you're really naive about vogue australia. i worked there for a few weeks and believe me they do look at pictures and go lets copy this and that. all you have to do is look at all of their past issues for proof.

^^Oh ok,if you worked there and have seen it,then i belive it.And how sad it that?! :(
