LAST year this sausage-loving teenager was roasted by local reality TV fans for being too thin and a prime b*tch.

But Australia's Next Top Model winner Alice Burdeu has served up her critics the best helping of revenge, starring on the catwalks of New York Fashion Week.


The controversial victor of last year's Fox 8 series, Burdeu "proved herself" striding out for US design favourite Proenza Schouler.


The prestige performance could be the tip of the iceberg for the 19 year old, who has been "optioned" for an upcoming big bucks Prada advertising campaign.


Her Sydney model manager Priscilla Leighton Clark, one of the judges who chose the leggy redhead, said Burdeu had confirmed her tag as "one of the most exciting prospects in fashion".

"She may not have been the most popular choice (to win on the show) but she was the right choice.
"Not bad for a reality TV show, but what Alice is doing now shows how the program's proved itself by allowing a girl like this to win."

This could be big for Alice!

I'm so happy that MDC gets it! Reminds me of the time when the AuNTM finalists were in LA and the shop owner said the ANTM girls looked like "mallrats"...I think it's safe to say now that Alice has transcended the NTM franchise but I prefer her to Suvi greatly.

ETA: OMG! Prada?!? Could this mean that she could be a Prada exclusive as well? This is HUGE. I had a dream the other night that she did Prada and news of a campaign is big.

I overly excited about Alice's successful. She's the only reason I watched and waited for AusNTM on youtube every week.

I assume that, as with most newspapers who report on model related news, they have their facts wrong; I assume they meant the Prada show, and not campaign.

Still, this is incredible for Alice (though I don't know if she's walked all the 'top shows' other than Proenza). I too watched Youtube just to see if Alice perform each week, so I'm quite pleased to see this success.

As far as her representation in those cities, I do not know where or if she is represented. She could end up being snatched up by somebody in the coming weeks...
