WITH her auburn hair and pale beauty, Melbourne model Alice Burdeu makes the perfect goth.
But she wasn't wandering a misty rainforest alone when this shot was taken yesterday.
The winner of the third series of Australia's Next Top Model was on location outside Healesville
shooting a "soft gothic" theme for Myer's fashion marketing campaign for winter 2009.
Behind photographer Hugh Stewart on the bush walking track where gumboots were required
was a crew of more than 20, a portable stereo blaring music, computers and even a steam machine.
Myer allowed the Herald Sun in for a sneak peek behind the scenes at the shoot, which goes for
two weeks. The images will be used in catalogues and advertising material, and will also star the
department store's ambassador, Jennifer Hawkins. Myer advertising brand manager Deb Burkin
said that "soft goth" was one of three trends that Myer was focusing on. "There's a lot of black,
lots of midnight blue pieces, lace, leather gloves, black patent gloves," she said. She said the location
was attractive because it was uniquely Australian, while the red of Burdeu's hair and the green of the
forest worked well. Burdeu, who also did a
shoot for Vogue while she was home, flies to London for
work next week but plans to be back home in Brunswick for Christmas.
She said working for Myer had been fun.
"Healesville is beautiful and I have been here before, it's very Victorian as well."
