Does anyone have any experiences working for them? I have an interview tomorrow at one of their boutiques and I am ridiculously nervous. I'm not quite sure what to expect.

Ease my nerves with tales of huge paychecks and generous discounts!

in my experience at shopping at dolce its only the male SA' that act like b*tches, the female staff are generally friendly and acomodationg...

I know!! I thought Id give a Saks a go.........but Im thinking NO!!

All we get are sunburned, sweaty tourists who want to price everything and compare it to the prices in the UK.

Well go home and buy it then.

Im constantly trying to keep myself from pulling a Patsy (from the Panic Room episode where shes working at Jeffery's)

"You're too fat. Get out!!"

I agree, retail has made me hate people. I go in each day saying I'm going to put on a smile & keep it there after each stupid question I get asked one after the other. Sometimes though you just can't help it, everyone cracks every now & then. This lady one time asked me where something was & she was litterally within a few feet of that particular item so I pointed and said "right over there ma'am" & she went nuts & yelled at me for "being too lazy to come out from my counter" & "how dare I point." That's when I got aggrevated and told her that she was standing right by what she wanted & she continued yacking & said she was going somewhere else because of my attidude problem which I replied "good." Then she wanted to speak to the manager & he had heard everything & she told him how he would never see her again and he told her that that was probably a good idea...I love my manager, but honestly it's true what they said in clerks...my job would rule if it wasn't for the f******g customers.

That's hilarious. I have yet to have a customer freak out on me, mainly because I feel they fear me. Im not kidding, I never get any lip. Maybe because Im a homoseccal and they fear what I may do.

I actually did tell someone to get out the other day, what it was like 30 minutes till close, I was tired, I asked "are you planning on buying anything?" she said "Im just looking" I said "We're closed, then"

^ haha, that was great...."we're closed then."

Most people are snobs and just ignore me when I try to tell them that we'll be closing in a few minutes, but then again maybe I am to since I go to turn off the lights while their trying to look at something. Now that I've actually gotten in trouble for, but being tired & mad makes me irrational or really mean...one or the other.

We seem so snooty, no? But I give excellent service when I want to (read: when you're spending money) but if not, f*ck you, Im not here to chit-chat with you. Get the hell out, don't waste my time. The faster you get out the faster I can get back to my magazine and chatting on my cell phone...

Speaking of oblivious I was at Dior Homme the other day and SA was talking on the phone so loudly, he was having a personal conversation, I was like "You are really bad at this, clearly you're a moron...Noone cares that you made-out with Guiseppe" it was so loud. Also he was snooty until the other SAs came over and fawned.

I dont like it when SAs try too hard, if I want it, Ill buy it, if I dont, I wont. You really can't change my mind, unless you drop the price. I never do, I just sell, but recently Ive been toying with pressure...and...let me say, IT WORKS. Holy crap, it's from heaven. It never works on me though, and I always thought everyone else thought like me, I guess not, I overestimated most customers.

Im considering a switch ATM.............not sure to what though. Im thinking of staying with Saks for awhile, as I might be transferring to a new city.

Well...........Im totally crazy............but maybe back to DC or maybe on to Boston

oh my, you are the SA i wish i could be! my managers would kill me.

i'm considering a different job at the moment but i'm reluctant to leave my place. it's easy, the money is good for my age, the hours are little (i can't take on too many) and lots of my friends work there. however, i could earn more and have a more exciting job elsewhere with more prospects  really, i'd love to work somewhere exclusive, so i don't have to deal with the people who have a total lack of respect for the products. i know what looks good and i could advise people but i just need the means to do so...

OMG, you should move to South Beach...Seriously...

Aren't you in Hogan country? Does Hulk Hogan and family live around there? They're really gross. You need to get out of the boonies!!

i had my first training whatever for forth & towne today.

i'm not really that excited, but whatever. i'm just happy to be leaving banana/the mall.

I'd love to start developing my retail resume. At 16, what stores would have job opportunities for me?

any tips on how to move to more high scale stores??? currently I've been working at express for 2 years, and know i have so much more to offer, but it's hard to find stores that will give a person a chance...my prior experience deals mainly with customer service, rather than retail...(i'm in nyc)

No...I think they are further south.

Looks like I might move onto Boston. Great shops there to choose from. One Saks that I'll probably transfer to, but I'd like to move to a boutique at some point I think.

Boston is good, you should work at Dior or somewhere cushy. You're too good for department stores...

Tell me about it.

Ive worked at boutique like places before, as well as department stores. And its MUCH easier in a boutique............as long as you have a good manager. The structure of employees is better...as its small, and usually only one boss.

A department store has so many bosses..........or people who think they are bosses.

I HATE working on commission when there are so many sharks in the department to worry about. And typically the pay at boutiques is better.

does anyone know what a really high-end designer boutique in a smallish city would pay for a senior sales associate/assistant manager? i'm wondering about the hourly rate, as well as the commission.

also do most full-time s.a.'s prefer salaries, and if so, what is the typical salary? should the job come with benefits if it's salaried (even for independent boutique)?
