Allure February 2005 : Mischa Barton by Michael Thompson

no matter what interview she does, mischa always finds a way to find something sill to say. in this month's issues she said (note i'm paraphrasing)....

"i love oprah. for some reason i feel really small standing next to her"

"this picture was taken at an event to help russian victims of terror or something. no one really knew who i was because they were all into these russian children, but i had fun anyways. that's a really great top"

I don't really see what's wrong with the first one. Most people'd feel small next to her. I think that Mischa was probably thinking that she wouldn't be so intimidated because she's likely much taller than Oprah, but Oprah's presence sort of bowled her over.

She probably has to become a little more articulate in her speech and interviews. She reminds me of Natalie Portman that way - both, I hear, are quite intelligent, but their vernacular is very relaxed. But considering the way that Natalie Portman wrote into Vogue, she's obviously one of those people who are much more articulate with the written word and not so much in speech. it happens quite often...most people that I know my age (20, much like Natalie and Mischa) are like this - far more articulate in the written word than the spoken word.

I'll have to read the full article before I make a comment about the second paraphrased quote...

I don't think she meant the first one to be offensive, she just should have phrased it a little differently.

looking very sixties like :)
She looks so pretty:heart:

I think most of the time things celebrities say in magazines are totally taken out of context (i.e. Natalie Portman). I doubt Mischa is a snobby person but has anyone here ever met her?

I love the pictures and the cover. Very nice. I'd love to get that dress that she is wearing.

As for her comments? Why does everyone jump up her *** about how she chooses to phrase things. I doubt she meant the Oprah was a fat cow. She probably just meant that Oprah is a huge successful star and she felt very little compared to her.

As for the second one...At least she was honest. A lot of stars go to events where they have no idea what they are doing there or what they are supporting.

I love this editorial. :)

I'm sure that's not what she meant either. I'm just saying it kind of came out funny.

I like her style and I think she has a pretty face, but ever since that infamous Elle article, I am really put off by her.

But see, this is the problem. People take magazine quoted comments at face value, when chances are, they were probably misquoted (as it seems to happen quite often, i.e., Natalie Portman)...one three page article can't sum up someone's personality...it'll just be a very superficial and external view as to who they are...irregardless, from what I've SEEN and heard of from people who've met her, she seems nice...:: shrugs :: who knows. Irregardless, she does pull off that editorial quite well...and hey, at least it's not Ashlee Simpson. :P

She's definately pretty, but nothing special. There are tons of girls like her in the world, and that cover is so blah.

well is see the comments are about to be the highlight (instead of the pretty pics) and are about to be lambasted once again:rolleyes:

Hotspot, i totally agree. That Elle article was not so good..

but the pics are stunning, very 60's, just my era. ;)
