Allure February 2022 : Janet Jackson by Tom Munro

Hee face is magnificent, don’t know how I feel about the styling yet…

I like the cover image and I think Janet looks stunning but I don't think it suits Allure. Anna should have just opted for this one instead of Jung Ho-yeon on the February cover of US Vogue.

And correct me if I'm wrong but, this is Janet's first ever Allure cover, right? They could have given her some covers during her prime years. Oh well.

Love it very true to brand and glad to see her covering magazines again. Hopefully Anna can correct that injustice of not having one of the most influential artistes of all time in music and fashion on the cover of Vogue.

Tom Munro is amazing when he wants to be, but the effort here is mediocre.
She looks absolutely mummified, and frozen. The Dune styling is doing her no favors.
It's cool to see her on a fashion cover, but it also illustrates why she never was fashion, even in her prime.

^^^ In her defence, she never seek to be any part of fashion.

She had her few moments: Mark Romanek’s video for “Got ’Til It’s Gone”, and that Patrick Demarchelier 93 Rolling Stone covershot are probably her most fashion-iconic images to date. She, like her brother, is best when she's stripped off the OTT gaudy Vegas costumes— like him in the Herb Ritts directed “In The Closet” video, and her in Herb’s “Love Will Never Do” gave them their best iconic fashion moments. (That Herb knew to cast Naomi wearing Alaia, and Antonio and Djimon wearing the bare minimum only sealed both these videos’ iconic sheen.)

Wished that Allure had remembered that with this shoot— and remember that they're a beauty rag.

I love everything about this! I only wish that it was a shoot for a more important magazine, maybe Elle? feels like it´s wasted in the mediocrity that is Allure -_-

Well said, but it's true she was attracted to this futuristic-sometimes too customey- fashion, but also she wore a lot of Rick Owens, Jean Paul Gaultier, McQueen, on her red carpet moments and IRL too and she supported African designers as well....

Nice to see to her again in a magazine shoot, i think the result is fine with the theme of the modern egyptian queen in the futurastic way.

It's a resounding NO from me, and I'm sat here not able to single out one redeeming feature (Patti Wilson's styling is truly horrific). Everything looks amateur and despite the presence of someone of Janet Jackson's stature - this feels like a total non-event.
