Allure September 2007 : Britney Spears

> I agree but she also has mags to sell, and a boss to answer to. Right now it's the tired serial-rehab idiots that are of interest whether we like them or not.

That's how I feel; she never shied away from putting models on the cover in the era when they sold, but Allure has to perform in the marketplace, so she has to go with that. For all we know, she's as bored by the constraints of what 'works' on the cover these days as we are, but she can't take the sales risk of stepping into the unknown with a model.

Honestly this girl has let herself go both physically and mentally and has no business being on a cover of a fashion magazine. She really is not a healthy subject and certainly does not represent anything beautiful lately - pretty much the theme of Allure. The airbrushing will be in rare form for this one. I don't know if I can even bring myself to buy it.

Access Hollywood did something on it today. The article is called "Britney Tells Us Everything and Nothing" or something like that and they had four failed interviews with her

Wow, I can't even fathom why a sane person would behave so irratically. I think she really needs help. I'm not even saying this sarcastically, but in all seriousness.

I can't understand why they would choose her at this moment. This is a waste of a cover. I am tired of Britney (Lindsay too). Linda Wells is scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Britney will not get better until she gets help, and I don't see that happening, why, because magazines continue to give her the attention she craves.

i wont be suprised if this is one of their best sellers

I think that allure did this to themselfs...i hope they ask elizabeth Arden for airbrush tips......

Looks like Britney is clearly not living up to her cover stature on Allure...

ANOTHER MAGAZINE GETS 'SPEARED': It's apparently NOT all about the scheduling for Britney Spears, who has reportedly bailed on yet another cover-story piece for a magazine. WOMEN'S WEAR DAILY reports on what was supposed to be a Britney "comeback" story in next month's issue of ALLURE. WWD.com asks, "Why would a magazine about beauty put on its cover an unstable woman who shaved her own head, went to rehab and is a regular on celebrity weeklies' worst dressed lists?" They answer their own question with a posting of an excerpt of an editor's letter from Allure Editor in Chief Linda Wells: "I thought we could present the profile as her comeback," Wells writes. "Perhaps Britney's story would be redemptive, like those of Angelina Jolie, Drew Barrymore and Mariah Carey before her." The planned piece, however, did not go quite according to plan. WWD reports that Britney did a photoshoot for Allure, but missed four scheduled interviews with writer Judith Newman. As a result, the accompanying comeback story went untold. Newman reportedly wrote a story about the state of celebrities in 2007 instead, and Allure crafted the cover line "Britney Spears: Tells Us Nothing and Everything." This new report comes on the heels of last month's highly publicized meltdown during a photoshoot for OK! Magazine...but at least there are no reports of her dog pooping on an expensive dress this time.

Isn't it just typical that wwd would suggest that because a woman is eccentric, she cannot be beautiful. Really, just silly. I would think it would be more to the point to ask what Ellen did on that cover...

And I wouldn't think Allure needed tips from Elizabeth Arden about photoshop. It would be news if a single pore made it's way onto Allure EVER.:D

It comes as a surprise that there still is a magazine that wants to put her on the cover.

And a good quality version of the cover:

I'm a bit frightened by it :ninja: It's not bad, though...

I think she looks pretty good. the photoshop department must have been working overtime for months to achieve it
