Allure September 2007 : Britney Spears

I think it's fantastic! It's perfect for Allure - such a change from the run of mill covers they have had lately. It's a glamour shot which confirms that hair and make-up is mostly an illusion. Although, her extended arm is kind of weird. I guess I have to take back my previous comments that she does not belong on the cover as I have now completely contradicted myself. It's just too bad she can't live up to that image.

As much as I want to hate this, the cover is great. It's really eye grabbing.

That's not a typical cover of Allure, indeed. Not that bad..

whoa I like the cover  Not only is it different from the typical Allure face shot, but Britney looks good. Photoshop or no, it still looks great :)

I like this cover. Love the red writing. Hope they do other covers like this in future. It doesn't have to be a head shot every month Linda.

Good wig.

i think her face looks good. the mouth looks incredibly photo-shopped.

cover looks somewhat christmas-y.

Great cover! Britney looks really good. Too bad she apparently didn't give an interview. Probably would have been rather interesting...

Photoshop is truly an amazing computer program. Truly.

That said I like that this is different from the usual Allure headshot covers - those had gotten quite stale in my opinion. This should be an interesting issue

At least it's a change from the rut Allure has been in for awhile. But with the dramatic wig, lipstick, and obvious Photoshop, it could be a shot of almost anybody. (But maybe that's the whole point.)

I saw the mag today, i dont like it. The inside pictures are sooooo photoshopped, they made her much more skinnier than she is, but that was expected. And the article is not interesting.

It's funny how Britney is the very contidiction of every beauty headline on that cover. Bombshell Hair=shaved head, Clear, radiant, skin=acne problems, Secret eating=A notorious love of fried chicken, Rich fall makeup= smeared eyeliner, smugded red lipstick. Way to go Allure!

it really not bad, but i feel not look like her! @@

:lol::lol::lol:

i wish it had an inside front cover with the before shot...

So....you guys feel that this Allure cover was more photoshopped the the others? I'm talking the last 7 years or so. Really? No, what's really going on here, is that thanks to Britney's unkempt public appearances it is very very clear just how photoshopped those Allure covers really are ;)

What has fascinated me about Allure is how they make everyone look alike. To me that is a lack of allure rather than anything else. It's a lot easier to shoot a gorgeous photograph of someone not so gorgeous when you have all the photoshopping, hairdressers and overexposed light imaginable, and yet, most of the time, Allure produces rather boring, not particularly captivating cover images (the inside eds are usually good). Yet, this is not a boring image....I guess that's why she's been in the limelight nonstop for 10 years.

It's great! Instead of the typical headshot, we have a real person, who looks like they've been playing dress-up while getting steadily more drunk, who thought it would then be a good idea to 'pose like Marilyn' with the end result looking more like an enormous visual plea for help straight out to the entire public of America.

A change to the usual waxwork faces we get on the cover, that's for sure.

I would agree that he problem lies in the way Britney herself has presented (and to some extent is still presenting) herself to the media. If we didn't see her looking so disheveled constantly the airbrushing would not be as evident. Unfortunately I feel as though that level of constant media scrutiny just destroys the overall magic of celebrity. Celebrities bring their reputations with them when they appear on magazine covers. Usually that isn't a particularly bad thing but in this instance it isn't helping things.

This is an interesting picture though - it would have been very effective as a comeback "look at me I'm back on track" pictorial had she done the interview and proceeded as planned.

Yes....it is definitely Marilyn that she can't help herself from doing. They are just eerily alike in a way - sexpot slobs. It seems Marilyn had the sense to stay locked up in an appartment during her less....lucid....episodes.

There is also something very 60s about this shot. The reaching out, touchy feely thing. Janis Joplin. And what is that enormous rock there fore, out of focus, or is it a pearl? 68 irresistable lipsticks  Just don't know why they can never put the numbers that mean something on there :D

I think the unfortunate part is that Allure, and others, will photoshop away the texture of even the most beautiful skin. She may not be back on track, but she gave Allure their best cover in years. Like tigerrouge pointed out - so many messages in this cover. Is it an appeal, is she grabbing onto us...is she asking us if we can stand the creature that became after the mindless admiration of a manufactured teenager?
