Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie donate $2 million to African wildlife sanctuary

Generous Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have donated $2 million (USD) to the African wildlife sanctuary where they spent Christmas with their kids.

The superstar couple’s Jolie-Pitt Foundation has made the donation to the Naankuse Wildlife Sanctuary in Namibia to help its efforts to protect animals and improve the lives of local people.

The couple, whose daughter Shiloh was born in Namibia, are close friends of the directors and founders of Naankuse, Rudie and Marlice van Vuuren.

The donation to the Naankuse Mission project is being made in Shiloh's name.

Angelina said: 'We want her to be very involved and grow up with the understanding of her country of birth.


“We have known Rudie and Marlice for many years and continue to be impressed by their hard work and dedication to the people and conservation of the land and wildlife of Namibia.”

Brad and Angelina and their six children spent a week at the sanctuary over the festive period.

Staff at the sanctuary have revealed the family’s experiences included watching orphaned baby baboons and foxes being fed, visiting a local school and seeing the release of a leopard back into the wild.

She has already made the decision that Shiloh will do charity work for the Wildlife Sanctuary and from memory, she has also said similar things about her other children - I think it was Maddox.

They said they want her to be involved - maybe at 4 years of age Shiloh has already shown an interest in animals. It did not say a decision was made that she would do charity work - that could be implied but not directly so.

To me , it sounds like this statement was made in the way any parent would encourage their children about things. When you have young children parents always guide them in certain directions.
Believe me children will make up their own minds with age and time.

^ totally agree. Children need guidance and values instilled at a young age. A parent's wish for her child may not even come true, but there is nothing wrong with having hopes providing when the children get older they can make their own choices. But I don't think making a charitable donation in a child's name or hoping she'll have a rooted interest in her birth country are in any way cloistering or negative. In fact, I see these things as admirable.

It feels weird you think that way. I have a feeling she lets her kids become who they want to be. And obviously her kids have so much personality comparing with the other kids from their ages.
