She was so very beautiful in Performance. sigh She looked so healthy and her hair was awesome. I should know this, but is she a natural blonde? I was reading a book on Timothy Leary and there was a passage about her (no surprise since it was written by Robert Greenfield).

In that scene, no one was more striking than Tommy Weber. Tall, blond and handsome, he toured the world with his two young sons, going form one great house to another as a welcome guest. Most recently he had been in residence at Villa Nellcote, the palatial estate overlooking the bay in Villefrance whee Keith Richards and Anita Pallenberg had lived in decadent splendor while down down in the basement, the Rolling Stones tried to record the follow-up to Sticky Fingers, the album Leary blamed for having helped lead him to heroin.

Although Joanna's husband was still around when she and Weber first met in Marbella, it took them no more than an hour to get together. Scoring some morphine from a friend, Tommy and Joanna decided to visit Keith and Anita, who now lived in Villars-sur-Ollon, not far from where Leary had been arrested by the Swiss police on the day he and Rosemary intended to conceive a child.

During their visit, Richards spent most of his time downstairs playing electric guitar and piano. Upstairs, Anita discovered in Joanna a kindred spirit. As they drank copious amounts of tequila, smoked dope, and snorted coke, Anita told Joanna about this incredible man named Timothy Leary who lived right down the road. As the night wore on and the drugs took hold, Anita, who loved nothing more than to bring people together - if only to see if she could then break them up again - wove her magic spell. She persuaded Joanna that her destiny was to meet this incredibly intelligent and beautiful but ultimately lonely man who ever since his wife had left him spent all his time hanging out with rally stupid chicks, none of whom were at all like Joanna.

Together that night, Anita and Joanna hatched a plan to change the course of history and win freedom for Leary. The Stones, the world's greatest rock 'n' roll band, would offer to do a quick tour of America with all proceeds going to Senator George McGovern, the Democratic Party candidate in the 1972 presidential election. McGovern would then defeat the hated Richard Nixon in November. As a quid pro quo, or perhaps just an act of mercy, he would pardon Leary. In the hours before dawn, in their chemically altered stage, Anita and Joanna could already see that this would be a new adventure. Joanna and Tommy Weber promptly flew first class to Washington where they actually managed to talk their way into McGovern headquaters and present their idea to his aides, who told them they had come too late. McGovern was already so far behnd in the polls that not even the Rolling Stones could help him.

When would you guess this photo was taken? I have never seen that one before. Thanks!

^^ do you know the early picture of anita by the stairs, where she's grinning and has a skirt and sweater on? i think this photo was taken before that (and her hair grew into the style of the photo i've described). i don't think its a wig...

i've always wondered where all of her modeling pics are. we see lots of them, but the way you hear it in stones books she was doing a lot of work than the photos we do have. like cover of vogue?
