Date: March 23, 2008 Author: SUSIE RUSHTON Harmony Korine 35 is a writer and film director. He wrote the script for Larry Clark's Kids at the age of 20, and his directorial credits include Gummo (1997) and Julien Donkey-Boy (1999). Mister Lonely, his latest film, is about a commune of celebrity impersonators. He is married and lives in Nashville, USA.I met Anita almost a decade ago. I was in London and I was with this girl who'd gotten mugged. I was running after the guy who stole her purse. I didn't know the neighbourhood, and he got away. Then I lost the girl, too, 'cause I'd been running for so long. I didn't know where I was. I stopped to smoke a cigarette, but I didn't have a light and then I saw a lady who was dressed very chic. She was gardening and smoking. She had a beautiful scarf, and she was down there with a trowel, and this cigarette hanging out. I walked up to her and said, "Excuse me". She turned around and it was Anita Pallenberg! But, before I recognised her, I knew there was something special about this lady. We ended up talking and exchanged phone numbers. I knew Anita's son, Marlon, from New York. Marlon is very discreet, but I knew he had pretty heavy-duty parents [his father is Keith Richards]. And on my first trip to London, people had said I should meet Anita. What's so strange is that we met in this accidental way.
I didn't think of putting her in a movie at that point - I didn't have a movie at that point. I was a little bit messed up in the head. It wasn't until a few years later that we started talking about films.

Anita is the queen of rock'n'roll, like the female Chuck Berry. I thought it would be great to put her in a film. I like to start out as friends and turn it into work, rather than the other way around. It's nice for me to have a relationship that pre-dates the filming. Then, when you start working, you're already connected. If you look at the credits of my movies - my brother, my father, my wife and a lot of my friends are there. There's a greater trust and those people tend to give that much more. Anita is like part of my family. She and Rachel, my wife, sometimes knit together.

She lives by her own rules. Sometimes I'll just sit back and watch her. Anita is very punk-rock. When I went to her house for the first time, she was blaring Beethoven on one speaker and the Wailers on the other. And I was like, "What the **** is this music? I've never heard such a combo!" She was playing both because she couldn't decide which to put on.

Recently Rachel and I went over to her house and Anita showed us some of her Super 8 home movies, with Keith and the Stones from the late Sixties. That was amazing. To her, it was just home movies, but to me and my wife, it was: "Wow!" Anita is very glamorous.

Anita Pallenberg 64

is the original rock chick. Girlfriend of Brian Jones, alleged crush of Mick Jagger and common-law wife of Keith Richards (by whom she has two children), Pallenberg was the inspiration for Wild Horses, and acted in Performance (1970) and Barbarella (1968). In Mister Lonely, she plays a Queen of England impersonator. She lives in west London.

Read this article a few weeks ago and I love what Harmony says about her.

I get the kicks out of Anita listening to two completely different types of music at one time just because she can't decide for one. Great! Gotta love here. She's a very interesting woman, and outstandingly beautiful, I think. Her eyes are just......wow, words fail me. I've never seen any other person - male or female - with eyes that stunning.

does anyone remember, there was some information about anita on some msn group before - how her relative is a german romantic painter, and that anita read certain books? does anyone remember this? which books did she read?

Oh my god, thank you so so so so much, 60swildchild!!!! You rock!! :woot:B)

I  these pictures so much!! Thank you thank you thank you! Beautiful! ^_^

Yeah, I'm a member of that group, but nothing much happens on there.... They do have some nice pictures, though.

Interesting article. Funny the way they met....Fate? I also like the part about the 2 records playing different music. She is quite the charactere - very eccentric. I dig that.

Boy, she really was the 60s Rock Babe!! Has anyone seen Goddard's movie about making Sympathy for the Devil? She was a big part of all that whole Stones black magic and witchcraft trip, it seems...

Great news ChloeFrancoise, thanks for the link! An excellent choice indeed!!! Yay!

Dandelion, thank you for posting these pictures. I didn't know the second one with the phone so far. Very nice. Gosh, she's so so so so beautiful! She's always been!

Btw, yep, I've seen Godard's film One Plus One/ Sympathy For The Devil.
It really is a strange, weird movie and I'm not so sure what several parts actually are about *lol*, but that don't matter, because there also are the reasonable, great scenes in the movie that show the Stones recording that fanatstic song! Featuring Anita and Marianne singing background vocals together with keith, Brian Jones, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman. well, the whole band except for Mick, of course, who sings lead vocals. Logically.
