Okay, this reminds me of the time I saved a nice ribbon from a fancy local bakery's cake box for too long because I thought it was cute. I just had it hanging from a cupboard randomly for too long. Sometimes... a ribbon is hard to get rid of.

Those socialites/Real Housewives/golddiggers that were the equivalent of the reluctantly accepted Untouchables into high fashion of a past fashion era at least made the effort to elevate themselves to high fashion/couture standards. But even someone like Paris wasn’t accepted by high fashion, since no amount of wealth could ever hide the stench o her trash. Nowadays, Cardi/Kardashians/Megan, whom all looks/sounds/drenched in absolute trash despite all the wealth and popularity, are just prompted as high fashion royalty, without having earned any standards whatsoever other than that they have the flex. And it isn’t about race, because growing up in the 90s, artists like Neneh Cherry/Lauryn Hill/Erykah Bad were immensely influential in their style, associated with certain creatives and even brands, but were never desperately pushed in your face, so their cool was genuine and earned. Women of their highest creativity, style and beauty standards just don’t exist anymore in fashion, unfortunately.

i think nostalgia is clouding your perception because how could you forget about Lil Kim? or Dior’s poster girl Foxy Brown? (never even heard of Neneh Cherry til now)
fashion being associated with “trash” is not new. i think there are more glaring reasons why luxury fashion looks so bad/cheap now…

I know you've all heard this take so many times that it's become repetitive, but I'm sick of minimalism and this FM demonstrates just that. All the same pattern, same clothes, no vision, just some wearable stuff that will be forgotten after a few years. It's as if the designs have a whiff of the clothes that have been produced before (Alexander Mcqueen, Givenchy), maybe some patterns to stay true to the brand's heritage, but overall it's the same stuff. The brand's pattern isn't distinct anymore. Fashion is supposed to be revolutionary, it is so disheartening to see big brands fall to the ground like this. (hmm..Dior)

I can't put into words the visceral reaction Tabis make me feel, which I suppose was... perhaps the point. It's the same reaction I feel when I see toe socks or "barefoot" shoes. Just vile. I think that separating your toes is ungodly.
