Anita is such a fashion icon, I think she truly ruled the swinging 60's!

i agree!!!
And i also read somewhere that her style inspires kate moss.
Arent they also friends?

yeah they are, i have seen plently of pictures with the two of them together.

I dont think kate moss (or her devoted fans, lol) would like to believe kate moss copies quite a few peices from Ms. Pallenberg. I think kate moss puts things together very well but everyone has their inspiration, kate moss included!

Agreed, it would be lovely to see either of the two putting an outfit together, in particular Anita. God to see her and Keith getting ready in their day, would having been fabulous!

I think that Kate has said that Anita is one of her fashion icon. They are friends after all.

Yeah, to me its obvious that she is her style icon. But it kinda annoys me when everyone hails one person as a complete original, they should really look back in another era to find the true original. And thats Anita and Keith for sure!!!

^Yes, but I bet if we looked back we could find someone Keith and Anita were inspired by. No one is a TRUE original, not even Kate or Anita. But they both have the confidence to pull off any look as their own.

Well Kate Moss has never claimed that she was completely original. She has mentionned her inspirations (Anita, Edie Sedgewick for example) and everyone realize that she often borrows to the 60's /70's.
I wonder who inspired Anita ?

Proberbly Marianne! ;)
But really, everyone knows the 60s was the time of true originality. I dont think you could describe her style in any other era which IMO says a lot.

But really, everyone knows the 60s was a time of true originality. Her look does not emulate any other era in my opinion, her look was not 20's or 30's. She caused so much attention with what she wore its obvious that she did not copy. I think you could only get to her fashion status by thinking on your own.

I think Anita may have been inspired by the Victorian era a bit. Lots of big ruffled shirts and dressing to the nines for normal activity.

Marianne's said that it was the other way round. It's Anita who inpired her.

It seems to me that Anita was inspired a lot by her holidays in Marrocco and travelling in general. In her biography Marianne wrote a lot about how they were inspired by exotic destinations (Marocco in particular but also India)

I don't believe in "true originality" as far as style is concerned. You're always inspired by someone or something. I recently watched a documentary about the sixties and yes they were inspired by other decades , other countries's style, already existing fabrics... They transformed it into something different but you can still see the sources of inspiration.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree on that one! sorry if i sounded like a snob on my last post, I just read it.

I have to agree with Jadee on this. I highly doubt that Anita was inspired at all by Marianne. Anita was much older and had already traveled, modeled, and worked with photographers such as Jean Loup Sieff, Guy Bourdin, etc..., before she even met the Stones in 1965. If you look at photos from that time, Anita's style is already very developed, but Marianne's is just like that of, say, Patti Boyd's or any other Brit girl.
Anita was/is always more of a leader, whereas Marianne was a follower.

Anita and Kate did work together for a UK Vogue special in 2003 or 2004, where Kate is photographed wearing a bunch of Anita's clothes in which Anita found at various thrift shops. I have that magazine stored away though. But I do know that Kate wears one of Anita's "monkey fur" coats, in which you can find Anita donning in a few pics at Getty Images. She also wears Anita's belts, purses, etc...

I have that Vogue too, its my favourite issue! Everything is just sooooooo perfect! Anyhow, with the icon issue, i remember reading somewhere that Anita said she was suprised how people thought of her that way because she always thought Bianca was the only one of the stones girls that was considered 'stylish'. I really wish there were more pics of Anita.

Yeah i believe so too. But i cant remember when she said it:unsure: . But i also know that Anita is the Boho-Queen, she was the one that "made" the boho style.

I think it's fun tracing back to who-inspired-who. Some are oblivious to the fact that Kate is not THE fashion goddess. Sure, she is hailed as that, but she's not much more original than the next kate-copier. That said, I love Kate. It's just really interesting.
