Ann Demeulemeester Shopping Thread

I tried these on today in size 40 and 41, I have a few questions
http://www.monamoore.com/scripts/details.php?pid=4303

I normaly wear a 41.5/42, but AnnD seems to be oversized in all the models I've tried in the past so this is consistant but a little bit confusing. In fact I could fit in the size 40 in those and they seemed snug but comfortable, however I haven't tried to walk all day with them. Any owner of AnnD boots, especially those, care to comment on how much the leather stretches and if I should get these snug or more roomy (I can wear the size 41, they seem pretty nice but I'm affraid I might find them too lose if I have to walk all day in them...).

-Would you get the size 40(snug) or 41(roomy) in those and why?
-Is the 400USD price reasonnable for this model, especially considering I'll have to add 15% tax?
-Do you think these boots are too plain even for a minimalist? I tend to choose clothing that is only "secretely luxurious" and while I don't want to move into eurotrash, all-around flash territory, maybe I should get something that other people will actualy notice, otherwise it kinda gets to the equivalent of fashion onanism. Do you think those boots have enough character to justify the price?
-I'm ambivalent about the AnnD very rounded toe thing, I think her shoes look slightly odd and even somewhat ugly for some models, when looking at them on display but that those curves really shine when you put them on and look at them in the mirror, taking a sleek quality that couldn't be seen or even perceived before. What's your take on that?

Thanks for the replies.

I can't really comment on the price - to each his own. Personally, it is a little to rich for my wallet for a fairly plain design. In my experience, Ann D. footwear holds up like no other. I've had my first pair of Ann D boots for four years and they are as good as new. I personally loved those shoes. They are exactly that, secret luxury. All of my boots run 1 to 1.5 size larger than usual. I like them a little roomy to accomodate for a thick sock in colder weather. And, oh, love the round toe.

Well, it's kind of "basic" BUT I love it anyway. (For the future I hope the feather necklace will be reintroduced once again... :innocent:)

Good luck with that. It's been sold out very quickly as far as I know.

I need a new scarf for the coming autumn/winter and I'm eying the Ann D ones that are available at LVR.com.

Has anyone seen these in person? Or maybe someone knows how long they are?
Unfortunatly these are the only pictures of the scarfs that I've seen.

ANY help would be appreciated! :flower:

I think they are gorgeous. I haven't seen them in-person but I would venture a guess that they are a thin veil of wool, ethereal and very soft. I prefer the darker one but I always tend to sway in that direction, you have live with what is comfortable to you.

Yes they are indeed gorgeous! B)

I thought that the winter is kind of dark and so, I like that, but the white/brown one is a good complement for a darker outfit. It stands out a little bit which i like. So for the moment I like that one the most, but as you say, I tend to sway in different directions aswell.

i think i am beginning to hate my ann demeulemeester boots..:ermm:...

too chunky...
i think chunky shoes make a person look short and dumpy...
they are just SO much better on a tall and lanky physique...

hmmm...
i hope that when the weather cools off i will find a way to wear them that works for me....
cause i have two pairs and i can't bring myself to buy any other boots while i have those...

so it's either wear them or sell them i guess....:(
urgh...
hopefully i can figure it out ...

**the ones with the square toe make me feel like herman munster...
for those who don't know the reference-it's basicaly frankenstien's monster......
albeit a more petite version...
i know that is an exaggeration...but if i can't get past that then i am in trouble...

/\ G-d, this image is so perfect. Where do I find a woman that dresses like that?!?!?!?! :woot:

As for the gloves, it would help to know where you are located. I can tell you that very few places will buy them, as Ann's gloves tend to be VERY expensive. I would imagine these would run you at least $350, and I wouldn't be surprised if they were $500 either.

Hi Faust,

yeah, I love the look too..
If I think about it I also want the jacket...

I am living in SF right now. Haven´t checked Cielo on Fillmore yet, but I doubt they will have it. Any other ideas?

Or has someone seen any very similar gloves lately? I just like that look...

I am not sure if besides Cielo anyone else carries Ann in SF, but I may find out tomorrow. Gimmeshoes used to carry her accessories, but not anymore as far as I know. You might want to try calling Barneys in LA.

i'll be in seattle next weekend, going to check out butch blum to see what they have.

Vigge, I've got the same scarf from last winter, but its all black, im not sure if its the lighting in the photo for the dark one, but I hope its different cause I was thinking of ordering it as well :P

It's about 3-4 meters long and its a blend of lots of different materials, wool, mohair... i cant find my tag, but its all listed on there.

Here are pics of mine
