Ann Demeulemeester Shopping Thread

you guys are terrible influences. I just bought a pair over the phone.

I'm pretty calf sensitive too, so i'll be pairing like Meg said.

i hope they fit right...i only sized down by a half because that's all they had left...i'm 50% hoping they don't fit right and 50% hoping they do

:woot: We are the influence of sartorial greatness  I am on the cusp of 36.5/37 and I only went down to a 36.5 based on insole measurements I found on ebay. Can't wait to see them on justlooking. I think we are going to have to have a shoe party in this thread

^ hahaha. I'd love to see a bunch of these sandal heels in one room. craziness.

I think you chose the right size.

I couldn't wait to get them so I, who am supposed to be working on an assignment, caught the bus to pick them up. They look so massive when you look down at them lol. I feel like they're ugly but beautiful.

here's a dodgy picture to remind you what'll be at your doorstep very soon

Congrats just looking!! Someone needs to post these in waywt!

Meg, yes, I caved! :p pre order not due until mid june :( although I'm actually hoping they don't work out, id have to keep them if they look better but they're too similar so I'd end up ebaying the givenchys at a loss. I just really want to see them on so I don't wonder what could have been everytime I wear the givenchys.

My flattering issue is with my calves like you mentioned but my ankles are very thick as well. I have the stubiest legs ever  the ann d's come up higher past the ankle so I'm not sure if it would emphasize it or define it a little. The beige I tried on made it look like I have no ankle at all but the black may have a different effect.

thanks Guessgirl :p

Actually i think the very fact that the ann d's come up higher is what will make them more flattering than the givenchys. If you have gotten them in black, the black leather that comes up your foot and up the ankle area hides that section of your foot/leg and creates a narrower shape. it kind of has an eiffel tower shape going on and it will narrow your ankle through illusion.

that may in effect amplify the shape of your calf, but if you're happy wearing them with jeans and darker tights, it shouldn't matter.

 justlooking - that is exactly the type of thing I would do.'this important assignment is due in two days. i need to focus - but.....i'd rather go get shoes.' haha. They look great on! GG - where did you preorder from? Last time I checked, antonioli had lots of sizes in stock, though maybe that's change. I agree with the idea 'ugly but beautiful'. I think for me, the heel especially makes me think of Aldo in the early 90s, but I also feel like anything other than a huge chunky heel would look off with the entire shoe. And I actually think that heel is going to set the tone for the next several seasons anyway.

Meg, I totally see the 90's aldo! but somehow ann d does it so much better. I pre ordered them on saks, antonioli sold out quick.

Congrats on snagging a pair Guessgirl and justlooking...
justlooking - yours look fabulous :woot: I completely agree with you that the height of the Anns creates a slimmer look. They do look wide on (when looking down), but when you see the entire shoe, the aesthetic works.

I'll post a pic of mine when I get them to join the shoe party. I'm watching my shipping tracking every day... a watched pot never boils I suppose. I guess I should just be patient...

Has anyone got any of the other versions (flat, wedge) or colours? Or are we all black leather heeled?

:woot: They have arrived! I literally chased down the UPS man for them! I was having lunch at a restaurant across the street from where I live (with a busy street in between) and just as I was leaving I could see him. by the time I made it across he had started driving away and I ran up beside the van and made him pull over  So funny.

Anyway, I didn't end up paying any customs on them! Don't know why (unless they mail you the customs bill?)! And they fit beautifully. I had a minor scare when I first tried them on because the laces were still too tight and I thought 'oh no!' but once I loosened them, they fit fine. And as others have said, SO comfy. I'm not a 4" everyday kind of person, but I could see wearing these in an office environment all day no problem. And they came beautiful wrapped, in a gorgeous brown shipping box, and a single dustbag for each shoe! Oh the life I lead :p Plus, I got a free bag from Antonioli. All in all, an awesome shopping experience. So anyway, on to pics! Please ignore crazy feet.

meg, so "the" shoes already have a story to go with them, makes it all the more special. love how they look with rolled jeans.

as it happens i have mine on at the office and today...celebrating a little barefoot action with the warm weather that has finally arrived.

cheers!

:woot::woot: Glad to hear you got them! Even if you had to attack the UPS truck! Haha  They look great!!:o I am amazed you didn't have to pay any customs!!! I'm praying so hard I don't either (so I can order something else!) I've had bad luck with UPS in the past (having to pay $80 on a $200 purchase) but that was being shipped from the USA, so hopefully some magic happens when shipping from Italy!

UPS would have made you pay customs before they gave you the package, so I don't think you'll be getting a bill in the mail :flower:

thanks for the compliments! How does UPS charge you for duties? On the spot or ? They were wrapped so nicely - you've got a treat coming your way steph!

Meg, I can imagine the UPS chase scene..the shoes look great on you, congrats and enjoy them :flower:

I ordered mine from farfetch.com and had to pay customs before UPS would let me collect the package. I drove to their processing facility to pick mine up and wrote a check for the customs fee. I guessed if I was at home when the UPS man was there, I would have to pay up on the spot also before taking the package from him.

And I am also wearing my Ann D boots today and it's amazing how comfy they are for 4-inchers!D

congrats meg!!

Everytime I've ordered from luisaviaroma or browns they would always send me a bill 2-3 weeks later, so you may not be in the clear :(

hmm....well I am moving addresses on Wednesday so..... But thanks for the heads up.

I was sort of 'meh' over the camel pair until I saw them on this girl...

yeah she definitely wears them well. I've also seen them on Jane from sea of shoes (i think she has all 3 colors actually) and they look good. I think you need the right skin tone for these, but i like them worn casually.
