...'shock factor' used by Peta is plain silly because this is what the terrorists use as their excuse...

Precisely. And it's not just this shock factor. Terrorists, like PETA, use irrationality and lies as well. They make their points through misinformation.

I think designers use fur MORE when PETA storm their show just to get one back...

Sorry Kimkhuu but every response you've given was all heart and no reasoning. Like someone said before just because you think its wrong doesn't mean everyone else does.

There are natives of Canada, tribes of Africa, and Natives of Australia that would think your views are just cookoo, maybe you should go throw pies in their favce because according to you the deserve it since they think skining animals is ok.

Don't you think you're going off topic...!? I brough up constructive arguments and I would more than appreciate any form of CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM. That's what I am here for. :flower:

Peta does not go around ridiculising EVERY single people wearing fur, they threw it on Anna Wintour, the seemingly MOST influential woman in the fashion industry!

And it has nothing to do with what kind of animal is killed, they equally count.

Melt977, I understand your view, but does it mean because humanity is also suffering that we should be allowed to do whatever we want with those animals, and put their problems aside...!? I don't think so, there needs to be a form of balance. All humans are to be treated equally, and no one deserves to suffer..... And what about animals, does it mean because we are human we have the right to USE THEM to produce fur goods?! Not only should we think of HUMANS, we MUST care about them as well!

Uh, the reasoning that Anna Wintour is the most influential woman in the fashion industry and that's why she deserves to be attacked is such bullsh*t. I'm sorry, but that's it plain and simple. She does no more wrong then any other editor, or designer, or stylist, or photographer when it comes to fur. I really don't understand the blind devotion to this cause I'm seeing in here, it's a bit disturbing to tell the truth.

Agreed. WOuld give you more Karma but I'm not allowed to since I've already have given you karma in this thread.

I could care less about her or PETA, but I'm always up for someone prominent getting pied.

Really? OK...:flower:

Well... I think most people are more or less aware of the fact that animals die for their furs... I think people imagine that animals are killed first and then skinned. Not that they are skinned alive and thrown aside to die...

God damn. They don't skin the amimals alive everywhere, please understand that. as far as I know, they skin the animals alive in China and some parts of Russia. Did you see the video? They didn't speak english, that's for sure.

^ Skinned dead or alive, both practice should be ended..... it's terrible......

You know,as much as I detest Peta's antics (this of course, clearly not as violent in it's approach as they are storming the catwalks almost knocking models down or pouring blood on themselves)it's really lovely seeing that arrogant woman get pied...not once...but twice in one year! Does she deserve it....YES she does! Not just that she wears fur but I think it shows how fed up people are at the way she tries control the entire fashion industry. She's fascist...whether you want to believe it or not.

OMG...
I didn't know they skin animals alive anywhere. WTF?!? That is just inhumane and nuts. I think I just got converted into an anti-fur person.

Oh more than agree with you Scott! She makes herself seem so important, as though her absence from a show is an "etablished" designer's biggest nightmare....! Like you must treat her like a queen, if she's disatisfied, then you're gone....

i'm really starting to hate Peta......they had my respect because i love animals and would probably never wear fur myself, but these actions (and their appearing at runway shows, on the catwalk, interrupting the whole show) are just stupid, plain stupid. it won't get them anywhere.......

When reading about the pie-throwing (which I think is funny!) a few minutes ago, I clicked on a link, then another, then I came across this. http://www.jcruel.com/catdogfur.asp. I didn't watch the whole thing; it was awful. If you don't want to watch it I will summarize what I saw: dogs and cats, alive and awake, in small cages being thrown out of trucks onto the ground, and then some shots of the cages being kicked around. The video targets J Crew because they buy all of their fur from China, where cats and dogs are used. I remember about 10 years ago a US company pulled some items because they had Chinese fur collars which came from dogs - I think their labelling laws are different.

I understand and agree with the argument that people get far more worked up about the cute animals than the not-cute ones, and that it isn't fair. Whether it is or isn't OK to wear fur, and whether or not it matters whether it's mink or cat, it is definitely wrong to treat the animals so inhumanely. If they are going to be killed, I don't believe it's impossible to do it in a humane manner.

Anyone remembers the BBC documentary (must be 5 years ago) where people whoused to be Peta members were saying how they were being thretened to perform violent ats in favour of the Peta cause? People (enemies of Peta in the organisation's minds) would receive gist boxes in the post and when they would open it their hand would get aught in ammean device that could actually sverely damage their whole arm... isn't this violent? Isn't this cruel? How can you take their cause seriously and support them? Even if they have a case you are forced to ignore it in the face of their acts...

Attacked w/ pie & yet her hair & make-up still looks flawless!!!
