have fun paying thrugh the nose to get it repaired. :innocent:

it has to be pc for me, macs look great (both the hardware and software) but looking good certainly isn't enough to sell me a computer. there was a time, in the late 80s/early 90s when the apple mac would have been the best choice for graphics work. the operating system and risc processor made multi tasking and handling bitmaps and the like easy. with the release of windows 95 (or even os2 before that) the pc has caught up. i think the fact that apple are releasing x86 based macs running windows says it all.

The processor only tells a tiny fragment of the story! :innocent: ...

And yes I have worked on a Dell from the late 90s up till 2005/6 where I bought a Mac Powerbook G4. The working space is so smooth compared to how clumsy setup windows has and talk about the amount of space and cpu Vista takes up! It seems like every time Microsoft upgrade there OS you have to buy a new PC! And lets not talk about viruses and virus protection programs! :innocent: ...

And you're right Mat Mac's are a Personal Computer(PC), even back in the days where they had different microprocessors, the PowerPC instead of x86 CPU, it was still a Personal Computer, but the thing is that is not what makes the big different! :glare: ...

Bluejeans - Yeh the repairs are ridiculously expensive...! As i have just realised!

Wewll, i kind of dropped it by mistake, which is not the best idea in the world! And the charger broke off inside, and i need a whole new logic board (whatever that is!) which is apparently several hundreds....
Not sure whether to get it fixed or just get the new macbook pro, as i would be getting a new one ion a year or so anyway..!

Has anyone purchased a used Macbook? I was scouring eBay (yes, hazard-alert) but I was just curious. Can I purchase applecare even if I don't have receipt of store purchase? I'm just hesitant to drop almost 2k for a laptop at the store.

MAC! Working on a Powerbook right now ^_^

The charger is a very common problem, my it happened to my brothers last 4 laptops but most new laptops have got it fixed by now. Mac has a new magnetic charger to stop it from happening. The login board is their name for a motherboard.

I have to admit that i like them both equals. all my life ive used pc but now that im at college, im in fashion major so everybody uses a mac and swear by that. i own a pc and tho ive used mac i still cant realize how is it that one can be superior, im capable to do ANYTHING they do with their macs on my pc, never got viruses problems or things like that, never had to get it repaired or anything, of course macbooks look so much better but apart from that i dont see big difference. by the way i dont have the windows vista os....i have a skin tho, that looks like vista =) haha i know...

Yea I know. It all depends on how you treat your machine. I know people who are having serious issues with their macbooks, mainly it shutting off on its own (motherboard issues). Nothing electronic is fail-safe. I look at it similarly to people comparing cars (my brother talks about this all day, so i know.)

I skin my own pc, and my current love is the Gaia Suite. (both for windows and mac, btw) :flower:

Apple. ^_^ I just received a MacBook for Christmas and I must say that I love it! After previously using and PC it was difficult and a little bit frustrating to use it at first, but after you figure out how to use it, it is amazing. It has so many brilliant features and is really easy to work with!!

Apple. I grew up on PC but bought a Mac when I started college three years ago. Seriously, I don't know how anyone could ever stay with PC, Mac is just a much more efficient, better designed system.

And who can resist the chicness of a MacBook?

i've used PCs mostly, but the last computer i bought was an imac. i like it, but i have to say, i do find PCs more efficient to use and they have an added layer of transparency that i love.

i don't think macs are better designed from a functionality standpoint. they are beautiful yes, but also extremely expensive and i do not find them easier to use then PCs.

also, when macs break down, it is hell. at least with a PC, there are a lot more things that you can do to fix it. it's not a complete black box.
