Apple's iPhone

Apple gets every little cent they can out of you. It's not any extra work for them at all they just know people will pay more for ringtones.

So true!

Its probably why they give you those awful ones that come with the phones.

But its just not Apple...every phone company charges so much for that crap.

they are very nice to use but a complete rip off and once you buy one, as others have said you will pay for every single thing you download

I want to bet it's the music industry pressuring Apple to charge twice to make a ringtone out of a song, they probably look at it as if you're buying two copies of the song, which I guess you are, though one of them is only a portion of it. It would be less annoying if they charged 1/2 the price or 1/3 the price or something like that instead and the music company and artist only got a portion of the profits that they'd get selling a complete copy of the song. I'm a musician and I'm all for artists making their fair share but things like this are unfair to the consumer (as is the digital audio recorder levy the CPCC once again tried to impose in Canada - they failed this time thankfully).

my iphone keeps emptying my trash in my email online even though it's set not to, I never empty my trash since I sometimes have to look up old email addresses, orders, etc. I've had to pay $25 to get it back so I turned my email off on my phone until aple can look at it and hopefully fix the problem. It keeps making little sounds and vibrating like when I get emails now but even when I removed my acct.

Then randomly, it'll show completely wrong time and date off by a couple hours or a couple days and then switch back randomly so it's unreliable as an alarm clock too. I kind of want to through it against the wall.

^ You had to pay $25 to at&t or your email provider? I hope you got your phone fixed now Guessgirl.

My sister has an iPhone, and it's pretty much the same thing as my iPod touch now (only I can't make phone calls/take pictures) since I just upgraded my iPod touch for $20 (thanks to those greedy Apple b*st*rds), so now I have the Email, Maps, and Notes app!
If the iPhone will have that Go Phone prepaid service, I would definitely buy this phone in a heartbeat! So I don't have to deal with at&t and their contracts.

If anyone is interested in ringtones there are a few programs online that allow you to rip songs already on your harddrive into ringtones. Unfortunately they are not sharewear so there is a fee but a one time $15 fee for unlimited ringtones isn't so bad when comparatively the same amount of money would only get you 7.5 ringtones through the iTunes music store.

I believe there is also a way to make ringtones via Garageband.

Apple does attempt to get every penny with their constant updates but as a HXC Mac user there is always a way around it.

SiennaInLondon- you can always buy a white one from colorwarepc.com.

Any Tmobile Sidekick former users? That is what I have now and after playing with a friend's iPhone I want to get rid of my sidekick! I love the big screen of the iPhone.

I'm seeing quite a few complaints with the iPhone though- I'm tempted to buy the iPhone while keeping my current phone for the time being. Do iPhones fall under the 14-day rule?

I love Lynch but he sounds like a Luddite in that clip. Obviously nothing can replace the experience of watching a film in a theater but if you want to view something on your phone or computer or hell on your keychain (and that day is coming) there is nothing wrong with it.

Indeed there's nothing wrong with that, and he does sound very bitter in that video, but I, too, don't understand the point of watching a movie on a minuscule screen!

True, the best place to watch a movie is on as big a screen as humanly possible :)

Though I like to watch little things like Podcasts on my phone and possibly music videos.

What are the chances of them ever releasing this in white? Nill?

I'd say never say never. But, I get the feeling they're not going to release a new iphone until 2009 though. Luckily they only updated software not hardware this year, which was the idea of the iphone from the beginning.

i love my freaking iphone to pieces. i just upgraded from the 8gb to the 16gb. :) and i just had to pay $140, not a whole $499 because i had bought my 8gb after a certain date. but anyway, i love, love, love it.

for anyone needing ringtones, you can make your own on garage band! i just made a few today.

^How do you do that izze?
I would love to know.

How to create custom ringtones in GarageBand 4.1.1:

With GarageBand 4.1.1 you can export your original song, your original audio recordings, or use Apple Loops and iLife jingles to create a custom ringtone for your iPhone.

Here's what you need to do it:

GarageBand 4.1.1 or later
iTunes 7.5 or later
iPhone with software version 1.1.2 or later

Set up a cycle region that covers the area you wish to use in the GarageBand song. Note: This area must be 40 seconds or less in length.
Once the cycle area has been set, choose Share > Send Ringtone to iTunes.
