Apple's iPhone

Is it true that with the AT&T contract- you get billed double? I overheard someone saying their phone bill is over $200 because it's charged in advance or something?

No...I have an iPhone and my bill has never gone that high...except when I go over my minutes:ninja:

hello izzie,

do you know if it's possible to use a song by a different artist, using this method. i have a couple of songs in mp3 format that i want to use,
but garageband won't open them. :flower:

How to create custom ringtones in GarageBand 4.1.1:

With GarageBand 4.1.1 you can export your original song, your original audio recordings, or use Apple Loops and iLife jingles to create a custom ringtone for your iPhone.

Here's what you need to do it:

GarageBand 4.1.1 or later
iTunes 7.5 or later
iPhone with software version 1.1.2 or later

Set up a cycle region that covers the area you wish to use in the GarageBand song. Note: This area must be 40 seconds or less in length.
Once the cycle area has been set, choose Share > Send Ringtone to iTunes.

ahh iphones are amazing!!!!!

the only thing I hate about it is that you can't use it properly when its freezing and when you are wearing gloves. so I end up using my nose and people think i'm weird... hahaha hopefully i'm not the only one ;)

There are 3 phones on my contract, an iphone and 2 regular phones, and it's only $115 total. So that is hard to imagine. I think people find reasons to bash the iphone because it's the hot thing right now.

I think its easier to do it in iTunes and just pay the cost. Plust in iTunes you can actually select the portion of the song you want to play.

i want an iphone, my lg phone is so rubbish it has no compatability with my mac so i may sell it on however im not getting a contract out with 02 in the UK i want one unlocked
:((((((((((((((((

but i cant wait to have all my music in one place and be able to manage something mac orientated i hate having to use one of those windows thingy bobs

when you use itunes you have to pay for it, and in garage band you can also select the portion of the song you want, so it's the same thing, but without having to pay. B)

what is your file, dorien? mp3?

Ianastar:

it's more about principle really...I haven't paid for anything in a while, and i'm not about to start. :D

Izzie:

yeah, they are mp3 which i tried to open with garageband but the program won't open them. my guess is i have to convert the file into a file the program can read.

for example.
The shins - sleeping lessons.mp3
I select, open with garageband....nothing.
( i really like the intro to this song, would be a killer ringtone.)

if you have ilife '08, you should be just fine. :flower: maybe my explanation stinks, though. if you go to itunes and in the help for iphone tab you type in "how to make a ringtone," it will give you an option for how to make one in garage band. if that explanation that they give stinks, too, let me know and i'll make a tutorial with screen caps for you! B)

i used my iphone about 3 month and now i am sick of it.
its fun to play around with it but you cant write blind messages when you your driving ore do some other stuff, that sucks.

Maybe you'd like to sell it Jayson? ;-)

Ok I am a lame who has not bought an Apple computer yet. How difficult is it to use an iPhone with a PC? IF it is too much of a hassle I may just stick with my Sidekick. :-(

so yeah.....

you might as well put up a tutorial izzie
not for me..of course...but for our friends who might also
be wondering how it is done. :flower:

I was going to get the iphone, but over here in England, if you get it on a contract you still dont get the phone free. You still have to pay £269 which is like $538. Thats as well as paying like £50 or $100 a month. I dont think it is worth that much. The price will come down soon once the next model comes out with the bigger memory

apple never lowers their prices, actually. i wish they did, but they don't. and if you buy something and the price goes down, as with the iphone with it was first released, apple will reimburse you the difference in money. and, the next model with more memory already was released. the 16gb was released about a month ago. i have it and it's wonderful! :flower: and it's not any cheaper, it's actually $100 more expensive. the more memory, and the more upgrades apple does on the iphone? the more expensive it's gonna' get.

yeah it'll be interesting to see how things progress. In Canada and the US the best/nicest/most expensive phones are NEVER free. It doesn't matter how much your monthly contrast fee is, you'll still be paying in the 200-300+ range for a 'high end' phone. In the UK (I'm assuming it's the same in the rest of Europe?) even the nicest phones can come free depending on how much your monthly contract it. Certainly there are some phones which you still pay some money for, but by and large you can get a really nice 'high end' phone free with your plan. PLUS you when you go to renew your plan, you get another free phone. No dice in Canada (and I'm assuming the states). You just get some money (max $250) to use against the price of the full RRP of a phone (let's saying in the 600 range for a blackberry). So for the UK I think having to pay this much for a money for a phone and the price never going down, is a strange thing and it'll be interesting to see if it stays this way. Sorry for the long post! :ninja:
