Oooh, I love the smoky eye look when I go out. My newest thing is Navy liner - makes my light brown eyes look lighter and brighter!

Sofia - gotta say, THE BEST directions I've heard yet - thanks for posting!

help NANA, what is the best navy liner, eye shadow & mascara, i'm looking for something that will LAST, also what lipstick in a light color do you find lasts the longest NANA :flower:

Nana,

The best navy mascara is either Laura Mercier's or Definicils from Lancome in navy. As for the best navy blue pencil, you should try blooz from MAC (it's a blackish blue) and the best navy eyeshadow... Umm... It depends, but I'd say deep night from LM, navy from Bobbi Brown, Night Flight from Nars (but this one is glittery and therefore it might not be good for you) or Stroke of Midnight from MAC.

But Nana, you have to be careful with such a look because it makes your eyes look smaller and if there are wrinkles around your eyes, it can also make them look very tired.

Sofia
good morning rides & tpg, thank you both for taking the time to ans. me, rides your right i have to be careful about shimmer do to the wrinkles, tpg as for lipstick i'm finally starting to get away from nudes and other light colors, my hair is white, short messychoppy side bangs, i do alot of piecy type things with products, my eyes are lg. and hazel, i'm thankful for all your input as i still cannot get out do to the 2 fratured vertabra, more tests them surgery, soooo all you girls are my lifeline so i can look gorgeous while i hang around the house & hospital, but what the hell i have to be my own best company so keek all sugg. coming oh also i have med. to dark skin :innocent: :flower: [/b][/quote]
your all going to kill me, but i was wondering how do you think a deep brown with reddish under tones like maroon would look pease NANAxoxoxo THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR TIME

For a smokey eye? It would look great... MAC makes a pigment in maroon, the exact color you decribe, and if you really want colors that are dual and are dark, check the night collectuon from Nars (night fever has red, i think...) But as I said, they are glittery and it might not be good for you.
And the best way to bring out the color, is actually using a shadow under these blackish colors that is from the same tones as the one you want touse, like China blue under Night Flight (ummm... now I can't remember which one is which...).

But if you want a maroon, the probably MAC pigment is the best option. Still Nana, watch out for that type of color and litle wrinkles around the eyes!

Sofia

Are darks eyes have like the dark color inside your eyes already? If you alreday have dark eyes. Do you still need to apply eye liner?

ALL YOU GIRYLS made me up and i have a thankful heart for all of you WHAT A GREAT SITE

so glad you found new goodies that you like! have fun with them :flower:

what do you think of the smoky eye redone in purple? Dark purple eyeliner, a lighter shadow and perhaps purple or black mascara? i may have that done for a dance soon as something new and funky ( the dress is lightpink, acces. will be white and diamonds)

what do you think?

This technique has been around for a while...actually, I have tried even three colours at the same time, blending them together nicely....For example, a nice gold tone all over the eyes, then a nice muted green like Humid from MAC, and at the outer corner, add some nice turquoise eyeshadow, to create this gorgeous fading look.... this of course, can be achieved with different shades of blue, plum, golds, browns, greens, you name it...

That gold/turquoise/green thing sounds very nice, Alejandro.

Hmmmm.... :crush:

I always do smoky eyes in different shades and purple/plum is one of my favorite.

My sister does purple shades for her eyemakeup and it looks great on her--she has very fair skin and green eyes.

For a smoky look, I use charcoal grey and a dusty mauve. I look wretched in purple. For a while I was using an indigo blue eyeshadow, but I dropped that compact into the toilet, so I am minus an indigo blue eyeshadow at the moment.

Sometimes I will use a little bit of silver eyeshadow on the browbone. But I have to blend it well and use only a tiny, tiny amount, otherwise I feel like David Bowie.

I use dark grey eyeliner mostly, though sometimes I wear black, and always black mascara.

Grrrr... I hate it when I lose or break my favourite makeup compact. Oh well, now you have a good excuse to go makeup shopping. :flower:

Ooooooo, the smoky eye in purple sounds so pretty. What a good idea, especially for me since I have green eyes. I also have no purple shadow palettes so my visit to the Nars counter is getting closer and closer

Normally I wear blues (from light to smokey), silver & grey, browns and taupes. I have virtually NO purples or violet in my wardrobe or anything it would compliment besides black. The closest color I have a lot of is pink. I would probably only do the smokey purples at night since I'd be afraid of looking too bright and dramatic.

That is so funny. I just bought new purple shadow and liner it is so nice and paired with pick blush and lipstick it give me a rosy complexion which is much different from my usual browns. I too am a green eyed blonde but it would look good on just about anyone IMO.

Alejandro, could you show me a picture of that multi-colored blend, it sounds lovely.

If you're after a purple mascara, YSL Faux Cils #4 Violet is gorrrgeous
