A stunning collection, but whoever designed those mirrored stairs should be shot! How distracting to see all of these big time models terrified of tripping with heels, mirrors and floor length gowns- it is hard to concentrate on the clothes with all of that drama going on!! :doh:

:lol::lol::lol:
Exactly!!!

I cannot understand this. This isn't couture to me. This is ready to wear with a ton of sparkles on it. Glitz doesn't make something couture, and I find myself wondering how much of this is really hand done.

And this look is atrocious

How can they put something on a couture runway like that. They knew there was going to be negative space underneath visible on that structural piece on the side. Its uneven and puckering. How can they send an unfinished piece on the runway with such an obvious flaw? All details should be considered, considering how much they will charge for it.

watching the show, i thought someone will fall off the stage.
it was scary. :lol:

Some of the prices are over-designed and over-embellished. It's a mash up of one too many styles. I get a strong Armani Prive vibe and even a little bit of Nina Ricci F/W08. :blink: In a way this collection is trying way too hard to look like "Versace". It's beautiful regardless, but not completely satisfying.

it might be very couture on the details but less so in the silhouettes and construction. like i said before, her Atelier pieces from the last few years were stunning, shape wise. you didn't even need to see it up close to know that, yes, it was special.

the only thing lacking was just a show for those pieces.

I think that some of the looks are Versace RTW and others are RTW Versace with Givenchy couture elements thrown in.

I read this thread before I saw any pics, so my expectations were pretty high. Maybe finally something ultra-feminine, eye-candy, barbie dream, gorgeous materials etc.

Then I see the collection on style.com and all I can think about is Star Trek and word "fail". Not good. I would even like to call it ugly, if it wasn`t such a harsh word.

I find the whole collection to be underwhelming. It all looks pretty as a whole but there isn't one piece that really stands out to me.

This collection kind of highlights the problem I've been having with the Atelier Versace collection for a few years now. As beautiful, striking and interesting as some of these looks are, ultimately they're concepts. They don't look all that easy to wear, and I don't mean in the sense of "pulling it off" but in the actual carrying on one's body. They look uncomfortable and a little too structured to really work as anything more than a wearable sculpture. It's been that way with Versace's couture basically since it was taken off of the runway. The pieces each season are stunning to look at, beautifully made and interesting in their details, but once upon a time an Atelier Versace piece was all of that and relatively wearable, for the financially and genetically gifted anyway. From an editorial standpoint these are amazing creations, full of potential for a great photograph. It's as actual clothing that the pieces lose me a bit. Plus, despite how sexy these clothes seem to be aiming to be, they're oddly serious by Versace standards.

Come to think of it, this kind of reminds me of Donatella's first few couture collections, which I remember being too conceptual for their own good at times.

Hopefully next season everything will come together better. I missed Versace on the couture schedule.

Does anyone know the opera used here? I've heard it like a million times and I can never remember what it is. Thanks.
