I like Jolie very much. I think she has the magnetism for Ava indeed. But I don't see how they would make her look like Ava. I mean, the only thing they have in common look-wise, apart the outstanding beauty, are the eyebrows, and just sometimes, haha. About Weisz, I feel the same as Nmyngan - she doesn't have the femme fatale aura Ava effortlessly had.
Would be a great work for her as an actress.

Edit: and I make Harumi's words mine. I DO NOT want another Kate Beckinsale as Ava Gardner.

Rachel has her hands full playing another Hollywood icon: Hedy Lamarr.

Planer's work had great influence on how Ava would be perceived. From now on Ava's publicity pictures concentrated on her face, and care was taken to light it expressively. Famous photographers throughout the world, including many who did not usually work with movie stars, were now eager to photograph her, and quickly Ava achieved international recognition as a great beauty.

In One Touch of Venus she wore a sexy Grecian gown off one shoulder. It was Ava's only costume in the movie. The dress was made of flimsy material tied around the waist by a cord. Supposedly she wore nothing underneath. The big news at Universal were the times director William Seiter turned on the wind machines. Ava was allowed a good stiff drink to get her circulation going again after the chill. The technicians had a few to cool off.

Ava Gardner: One of Frank Sinatra’s greatest loves, Ava Gardner oozed sex appeal long before it became fashionable. Part of an era in Hollywood that applauded girly girls, she instantly became famous for her 'devil-may-care' attitude. Her stunning beauty and enviable figure were perfectly in tune with the 1940s pin-tight waists and low-cut necklines, while her smooth waves and haunting stare added considerable appeal to even the most sensible of evening gowns. Figure hugging glamour at Chanel will transport you back to the 1940s.

If eyes are the window to the soul, your eyebrows are the window-frame, & when done well, can completely alter your bone structure. This is NOT gender specific — EVERYONE should keep their eyebrows tidy. You can use Adrien Brody as a role-model if you’re a guy, or Elizabeth Taylor & Ava Gardner if you’re a woman. All of these people have great eyebrows. If you cover their eyebrows with a finger, it completely changes their beauty. Take note! In Ava's case, her naturally arched brows accented her famous green cat eyes.

Anastasia Soares, Queen of eyebrows, waxed poetic on the perfect brow.Arch enemy number one, in Soare's book, is over-tweezing - the biggest mistake women make. Think Jean Harlow, who, Soare says, looked 40 years old in her 20s. Thicker eyebrows, she insists, are feminine and elegant. Remember Ava Gardner, Sophia Loren and Liz Taylor in the 50s? "Those brows," she says emphatically, "will never go out of style." She says Ava Gardner was the rare bird who was born with perfect brows.

One Touch of Mink

No woman should be without a good beauty routine, not even someone with amazing genetic gifts, like the immortal Ava Gardner, who swore off costly beauty routines. But don't take my word for it, take Ava's:

""I've certainly never taken the care of myself that I should have. On the contrary. I've done a lot of late nights without enough sleep and all that. But I've had fun. Whatever wrinkles are there, I've enjoyed getting them"-Ava Gardner

Great pictures Scriptgirl!

I don't root for Angelina as Ava because while I think she has the right kind of sex-appeal and charisma, people only see Angelina when she is on screen, not the character she plays.
I also don't think she can be made to look like Ava and beside, she doesn't have the right body.

Ashley Judd would have been OK ten years ago. She looks wretched these days but could play the older Ava.

I like Rachel Weisz, with the right make-up and a good hair cut she can look a bit like Ava (she already has the beautiful green eyes) and she is a great actress with a good screen presence which is much more important imo.
I don't want anyone butchering the role and make Ava look bland and boring like that horrid Kate Beckinsale in The Aviator.

I agree, no Kate. I still feel Ashley could work with good make-up though and she has that strong southern vibe that Ava had. I'm not sure at what point they will pick up the Ava/Frank marriage. I think she was 29 when she married him, no?

Rachel, I haven't seen her in enough stuff to form an opinion.

Post 3101 - I can envision Ava entering that room (or bedroom), shutting the doors behind her and saying, "What's next, lover?" Haha! I'm enjoying this.

Thanks for pic script!
