Avril to Model

She just wants to put on whatever hat will make her the most money at any particular moment. First she adopted the "punk" image because her record label told her to, and now she's girly/sophisticated and wants to model. She's so contrived.

Please stop it Avril! She's no model and she'll never be a model! It seems like everyone wants to be a model right now. She should stick to making music, I really don't like her music but i'm sure she's better at it than at modelling! I'm also sick of seeing celebrities as models everyone. Give the girl a break. I don't think she's the best cut out for modeling either, and we all know here that until the Red Sea parts again, she's not going to be Daria or anything close. But if that's something she wants to try, then so be it. We've all had pasts; no one here is the same person with the same mindset that they were five years ago. That would be like considering someone who's interested in fashion but has (at some point in their lives) never cared a thing about fashion at all. In which case, we'd all be hypocrites. So stop acting like you'd be above that, because if you had the chance, you'd take it too.

I don't really have a problem with the whole 'celebrity as a model' thing - when done tastefully of course. Selma Blair and Rachel Evan Woods looked great in those Miu Miu ads - there wasn't that whiff of 'celebrity consciousness'.

Ohh i never saw rachel evan woods in the miu miu ads, do you have a photo on hand by any chance?

From a marketing point of view, models get played out, they become over exposed. No Director of marketing wants to use a model that has been seen in hundreds of other ads. They're always looking for something new. Not something that has been seen many times before.

I think Avril would be a fine choice as a model for some print ads & such. I personally find nothing wrong with one dabbling into something new or deemed unexpected. The only harm is not trying, due to others holding ones past image or comments hostage and on a pedestal for them not ever being able to change.

I know what you are talking about, but with Avril she totally dissed Britney and Christina publicaly. She was so against that look and made it extremely clear, but now that she wants to model it's funny.

I'm glad Avril is getting a bit girly, because I always thought she had a pretty face. I remember when she was againts the whole dress up thing. This change only shows that she's growing up...I have no problem with that because she is doing it with a little more class then some pop stars that come into my mind....Britney Spears, and Christina Augilera. However, I'm not too sure about Avril in high fashion..... hmmmm.....

I always found her style rather , and now that she's modeling it's even worse....

I'd be surprised if she got any big campaigns.... That would be such a nightmare...

I must admit, I think she really looked great in that editorial... I forget if it was in Elle or Vogue or what magazine...

But she definitely doesn't have the necessities to make it... pretty face, but... just 'cause she's mildly famous, doesn't give her the automatic in to the model world.
