AZ Factory S/S 2021 Paris

That's not what I was expecting from Albert. I mean its still him but I was hopeing for some amazing presentation, not a lookbook. Maybe if those clothes were seen in a proper show, my feelings would be different.

I'm disappointed, because the collection look like it was designed by An A.I. All of the elements from his Lanvin are here, yet somehow it's even more dated and lacking of any refinement. This is Project Runaway weekly challenge at best. And I don't think he gonna win if he presented this collection as a contestant.

My chest hurt while I was sliding the photos. It’s bad and it’s worst because it’s couture but I cannot give up on him

Honestly I had no idea what to expect from this project so I can't even say that I'm disappointed, but this not good. Feels very dated, very duty free. It actually reminds of those Olivier Lapidus' collections. There are a couple of dresses that vaguely remind you of his past work, but the awful styling tarnishes any potential.

I guess I should say that I'm happy that he's working again, but judging by this collection we're better off reminiscing on the old Lanvin shows...

It is obvious he spent too much time in Nordstroms women's ready-to-wear department. Then, he tried to make up for it by reinterpreting classic couture shapes/silhouettes. While I do not pay too much attention to Haute Couture (I cover RTW), I was still very excited to see his return to high fashion. This felt mundane and trend-focused rather than urethral and magnificent. For his sake, I hope it at least sells :)

So underwhelming....... I already knew from the preview video with the dresses blocked out by a green screen that it would be, but not to this extent. Not expecting much from this point on already.

The knit mixture reminds of Scanlan Theodore's knits. I wonder if AZ Factory's knits will pill like Scanlan Theodore's.

I'm interested in the satin pieces. It looks like these bodycon pieces may turn off his lanvin customers.

Disclaimer: He is showing during Couture Week but this is not Haute Couture!

Overall, it’s an underwhelming collection of elevated spandex dresses and Lanvin rejects.
I get the intention but the project seems unfortunately too pretentious for what it is. His work for Lanvin was very inclusive...

Maybe the added value here is the contemporary price point...

Thanks Lola for the clarification! If this is Haute Couture, it must be indeed Factory Couture in every sense.

I forgot the last time that I got literally angry with a collection -well, with Hedi debut at Céline but I was expecting that anyways-.

If this is what we're going to get from Alber, he better stay at home enjoying his fame and fortune.

In case someone is interested, AZ factory has already landed in Net-a-Porter...

^And soon enough in T.J. Maxx

All of these resembles nothing but those diffusion lines done by a nameless committee who's hijacked the name of a forgotten great (Rabanne for example) and now they have sadistic fun tarnishing their legacy. The sad part it's in here there no such committee...

Seeing what’s going on here I have deep suspicions that the people behind this (branding exercise) and the ones behind Emma Hill’s ill fated Hill & Friends are the same (I mean... look at the smiley face logo)

I am happy to see the Alber Elbaz silhouettes coming back but this whole thing... needs a lot of rethinking for it to work

I just check on Net A Porter, the price is not cheap.
I've watched the video on youtube and understand more about the technology of the knitwear that they are working on. I can say what it is expensive, I assume they involve lots of development and the cost of the products are not cheap....

On Net A Porter, it either low stock or sold out...
So I think people miss Alber's Lanvin?

Somehow this is exactly what I expected. What would you think with a name like AZ Factory. But it's my worst nightmare. It just didn't connect for me. I felt like he compromised a lot in fabrication in order to lower the price point which make many of the designs look cheaper.

It all looks so cheap. Very underwhelming. With a different styling and presentation it could’ve looked much better.

I am whelmed. Is he trying to come for random identities? That's atleast more tasteful.

Forgetting about the mediocre clothes for a second, I cant believe how terrible the lookbook is. What a winning combo!!!
