Balenciaga F/W 10.11 by Steven Meisel

im guessin the models have moved
to another planet due to the ending of the world
and Balenciaga's clothes are suppose to be the clothing to
protect them against the elements. this is what i see from the
background and the heat exhausted models

I don't mind Miranda not being part of this but what about Carla Gebhart?

Not seeing anything Fall or Winter about these clothes. This would have worked better as the Summer 2010 campaign! Makes me warm just looking at it! Although Karen looks beautiful.

I think what went wrong here is that coming from a runway show full of ideas (the Kubrick - Space Odessey runway, the packaging inspiration, the overall futuristic mood) you could easily expect these ideas being translated into the ad campaign and with a comprising cast of newcomers and established models, this could have been a great campaign.

But the ending result was unexpected... no one see coming a cheap background representing Mars (?), models looking awkward - though I do think this was intended - and some portraits, which aren't bad but IMO that isn't enough to make a good campaign.

The background looks bad, it somehow makes me feel sick looking at it.
I also don't understand why all the models are looking sad and emotional, symbolizing when you buy the cloth you will become as sad? lol
Compare to last seasons, I did much prefer last seasons where you can clear see the collection instead of being distracted by the disgusting background.

But shouldn't fall/winter clothes make you feel warm?

i don't hate the campaign, tho i don't agree with the models...

still reeling in the gorgeousness that were Jennifer Connelly's campaign pics tho

Hmmm...I'm having a hard time with this campaign. And I can't exactly put my finger on what it is that is truly wrong. One thing I know for sure is that Mirte is absolutely ridiculous. I once loved this girl, but after she's failed so many times in print, I'm done. She ruins every shot she's in.

The only models who are really saving this from being a total fail for me are Valerija and Stella. Valerija knows how to wear clothes and she knows how to model. Her poses and expressions are strong enough to withstand the clothes. And Stella, well, is Stella.

And I'm also not crazy about Karen here, either. Don't get me wrong, I love her, but I'm just not convinced that she's a Balenciaga girl.

You read everything in my mind. Seriously, a collection that seem so inspired could've at least translated well with the ad campaign.

It's so much better than previous season! I'm totally in love with this. The colors, the poses, the models, the mood - everything looks so good together, you want to look and look at this. Such a lovely ads! And I have to say, although it sounds quite weird to me, I like the most Meghan's shot, she was the first, which drew my attention.

As much as I would have loved to see the Space Odyssey set in this campaign, it would be a duplicate of Meisels own work. He shot a Dolce & Gabbana campaign with this Space Odyssey aesthetic (floors and furniture included). So really, he would only be repeating himself if he re-shot this idea.

I'm not totally like them, but I dont hate them. It look so 90's....But the cast is huge, and all those girls only have one shot, I just think how much did B piad them ?!
