Perfect way to sell a handbag - make it small and barely noticeable in the sea of plain bright orange wall. Horrible, models aren't seeling me anything besides boredom.
I actually really enjoy this. This will look great cropped in on social media. And it follows Balenciaga's extremely successful 'bored, too cool for school' vibe.
Not my cup of tea but I can really appreciate the effectiveness.
I've actually grown quite fond of this ad, maybe because it's pretty much everywhere. That said, I think simpler ads like this are much harder to nail than one with 1000 different things going on. The 'bored' expression is actually appropriate if you consider that the bags themselves aren't anything too flashy, but simple and practical.
I like the simplicity of it. But when I clicked the thumbnail of the second image, I caught myself not paying any attention to the bag but to the awful pink sweater. At second sight, yes, the bags are fugly. Why waste heavy $$$ on crap you can find EVERYWHERE in vintage stores?
All that empty space could be cropped above their heads, but you really appreciate the simplicity of these ads more in a magazine. Still don't like the bags though.
The campaigns are intriguing but the bags are still ugly. I haven’t bought a Balenciaga bag since 2012. I have yet to be impressed by what they are offering.

Absolutely. His campaigns have been mostly stellar in all its forced-ugliness from day one.
I can’t imagine wearing Balenciaga menswear at this stage of the brand— let alone paying for it. However, Demna and his team are by far the most (arguably only) visionary of this era’s sad offering in HF, with the campaigns being the strongest part of his branding. That sort of creative hustle I respect— even if the aesthetic is not my preference.
And that campaign image with the Miuccia-looking woman sneaking a pic with her iPhone is just genius. It’s completely trolling as a campaign, and I adore it.
