that's really surprising caffeine. I think any lesser designer wouldn't be able to get away with this sort of pricing because you obviously have a TINY clientele (esp. considering Balenciaga isn't worn that often on the red carpet compared to other brands) and are essentially relying on watered down versions of the red carpet to sell. It seems like they are treating Balenciaga rtw as couture, having the show simply be a promotional tool with the items only available for custom order, and then selling simpler versions.
I also think that it's a bit disappointing too. I much more relate to designers who want to want to make women look great and feel amazing, not project their vision directly onto them and a lot of the designers from the mid-20th century were working with women in a time when their status in society was changing and the clothes reflected that so to see clothes very inaccessible kind of turns me off of them.....but maybe I read into this all too deeply
