Balenciaga S/S 2009 Paris

This is just a mess.. there does not seem to be a clear direction here, and it's just dull...

Recession collection.

Very disappointing collection -_- I like only few dresses and that's all.

Guys Look Really Sexy But That One Looks Like Hes Dead, #5

HOW ARE THE BOYS DISTRACTING...? YOURE LOOKING AT LIKE 5 PHOTOS AT A TIME, YOURE NOT THERE, WHAT A RIDICULOUS STATEMENT. THE MENS LOOKS ARE THE BEST SO FAR IN MY OPINION. THOSE SHOES LOOK SO INTERESTING, AND THE ACCORDION SHOULDERED JACKETS, NEED DETAILS STAT.
OK you need to calm down, stop yelling, turn off the caps lock and show a little respect for other peoples opinion! No need to call anyone's comment a "ridicilous statement"!

Everyone is entilted to theirs, this is a forum, and yes i agree with the poster who said they boys are distracting, they just look out of place here and ridicilous.

really bad ....
and it seems my christmas tree came earlier this year.
why so many glitter in paris this season ?!

the menswear is really déjà-vu. and not exciting at all. sorry.
and you wonder why he did that now (including the men looks into his womenswear) ... when he already did it and after made different presentations to now do it again.

just s***s !
cannot wait the reviews !!!!

and for once at balenciaga, i'm not even sure how it would be in the editorials.

I don't get it...

I do like the menswear though!

What's 'ridicilous'?

I think all the preconceived notions of what a Paris S/S show should be like cloud peoples ability to be receptive to great things. Imagine the collection without the menswear, it would be completely different, you see the boys that are taking the Balenciaga girls out! I applaud him for doing what he felt, he's always on the edge, and even if some parts of each collection fall off, the majority grows wings and inspires many. The craftsmenship and beauty of a lot of these items is unprecedented, and I see it as a very cohesive work.

It's one of the biggest disappointment of the season -_- The only thing I really like is the menswear, some sequined dresses are great (would look better separately), but that's all.

Looking at this collection makes me wanna love the S/S 08 florals and that was one of the less attractive Balenciaga's shows for me.

Oh i did not expect this...I like all the man stuff. I think many expect something out of this world but I gotto say, I like this very much. He is right to do something tone down to avoid being predictable!!

Paris: At Balenciaga, Light Play
By CATHY HORYN

A super-thoughtful and technically interesting Balenciaga show this morning from Nicolas Ghesquière: very light, luminous and leaning again toward the futuristic. He opened with beige-pink jersey stretched and gathered over a kind of heart-shaped form on the bodices of mini dresses, followed by a more complex use of second-skin tops and matching tights for under many of the looks. Slim pants and tunic tops — in pink shades of beige and light gray — had quilting, almost like a moto-cross detail but more polished and delicate like couture.

Metallic fabrics that looked like leather were in fact silk, and silver and gold finale dresses — some with fringe and the beige-pink leotard idea — were made of tiny pieces of ribbon. The tights pulled over the shoes, with apparently an opening for the sole. Very interesting effect: it blanked out the shoes, or the talk of shoes. Ghesquière said the show was about absorbing and reflecting light. It was certainly absorbing and, at the same time, difficult to describe. By the way, he had a passage of male models in the show, in stiff dark suits without lapels and flicker of gold at the nearly closed neckline. They were duds.

Off to Junya on a rainy Paris morning.

Still digesting this...I'm not quite sure what I'm looking at, I kind of like some things at first glance, but I'm not sure about this.

one question : is it a first for ghesquiere to show the bags on the catwalk ?!?!

WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!!!!! :woot:Again, Ghesquiere sets the bar at an IMPOSSIBLY high level!!!This is insanely good! It's like nothing I've seen before. The shoes are made with the leggings?? :unsure:Ghesquiere is a genius because unlike most designers - he creates FASHION. You can't copy and emulate this with other pieces. He creates a total look.Genius.

I found this collection to be very intimitating, I hate dont it but I guess I have to get the feel of it more to get a clear understanding of Nicolas' vison this season.

Hmm... I think I'll like it. Just not yet. At first glance, the menswear was okay, but I'll check it out again when I get back home.

The first pictures scared me I thought I would hate it, but the second half completely makes up for it, those sequin colored dresses at the end are so amazing!

Did you guys notice that EVERY single model on the runway was carrying a bag???

Pushing the accessories this season are we Nicholas???? :innocent:

The gloves were sewn into the jackets?! And the shoes were hidden??

I'm really interested to hear the motives behind that idea! :)

you see a well written post will take you much further here than just a couple of lines of blocky caps :flower:
i happen to agree with you on you that the menswear looks very good and fits in the collection... i am actually liking the mens more than womenswear :ninja:
i am surprised nicholas played it safe (because it looks safe from him, no?)
so safe it made some incredible pieces look irrelevant :( (ghesquiere the new hedi? ;))
like the first jacket on post #18 looks like a totally killer piece... but styled with those awful pants just doesnt stand out!
i cant believe this is the man that used to cut these hot pants... how he has done them this season, it reminds me of prada+balmain (last summer)
the neutral colours, the flatness of some of the pieces, the girls covered in matte stockings... it makes me think that this balenciaga woman is hiding from something... i would have liked to see flesh instead or maybe a bit of transparency... i really dont want the critics to call this a reflection of recession (that'd be too obvious both for the critics and for nicholas, no?)
