Balenciaga: This Is Unbelievable...

Missakura, I agree. I wouldn't buy them either. What can Ghesquière possibly do next that will be as creative and modern?

Actually they were around 12-15,000 gbp.
They were nicknamed the 100,000 pound leggings, but were more in the above price range

^The most expensive piece I've seen is the white marble pattern fox jacket at $25,500 and the marble dresses at around $13,000-15,000. The rest are at about 3 or 4-figure prices.

I know iy's impossible but anyone knows a brand as avant garde as balenciaga but for mujch less?

For all the people back in 2007...wait till you see Demna´s hoodies prices!! 😅
What was interesting even back then was that the runway pieces were super expensive but the capsules, pre-collections and commercial versions of the brand were fairly priced. In a way those prices and the collections solidified a kind of faithful clientele for Nicolas. People bought mostly the motorcycle jackets and the bags but a lot of women wore Balenciaga daily.
I’m surprised nobody created a « Balmain: This is unbelievable » thread. 1000€ destroyed tshirts was a scam Decarnin pulled off brilliantly.

In all fairness, those prices seem somewhat justifiable. Looking at Ghesquière's runway collections, lots of the pieces appear to be extremely detailed, heavily embellished and just complicated in their construction. Chances are they had limited production runs too.

If @Lola701 is remembering correctly about Balenciaga's secondary lines, then the brand must have been very well rounded. It's very much like Lagerfeld's Fendi and Chanel in a way.

Now what I find more offensive is modern Balenciaga selling muddy jeans, trashed sneakers and couture socks for 100s and 1'000s of euros. To make it worse, everything he does is instantly worshipped by those fashion dudebros/incels who use soyjaks as avatars.

Nicolas is using the same strategy today at Vuitton. The runway extreme pieces are quiet expensive and limited in terms of production. They have a kind of small permanent collection, small capsules and then the logo stuff.

Balenciaga by Demna for the most part will age terribly. And the fact that it’s super ironic will probably make the wearer of that look even more stupid when looking back.
