Balmain F/W 11.12 Paris

it's not even same same old ...
it lacks huge editing !!! styling is ugly !!! or is it the angle of the 1st pictures and i feel like he included old looks into that one and we won't see.

i really wonder if alt has helped him in the last months. poor guy. he doesn't know what to do anymore ...
she shouldn't have take the Vogue, but just start her brand.

seriously, that's worst than usual.

Balmain has absolutely no reason for its astronomical price tags. The hype it got at first and its exclusivity could somewhat justify for it, but now, what exactly are you paying? Who ever is buying this is, is not getting their moneys worth. Balmain is dismissible during fashion week.

I wish that he would do something different than the jacket and skinny jeans combination.

This is as empty as it gets on ideas, inspiration and intellectual gravity in fashion.

This. I'm really trying to get over my dislike for Balmain these last 3 seasons to understand their different collections... the more I try the more it's evidence that there's just nothing to get... I'm jumping off the boat...

i am going to bet that next season is also going ot have gold lame pants and embellished mini dresses

This is unimaginative and obviously a rushed collection. I feel like Decarnin designed half of it before he went away and Melanie Ward was hired the last minute just so they could actually show something.

sounds about right

I don't love it, but I honestly think that it's a bit better than last season. I can't explain it, I'm always drawn to Balmain collections, even when they consist of the things I hate.

While there are some interesting individual pieces- they look recycled from previous seasons, with maybe a change of color or material and an extra line of sequences. Very forgettable collection, it looks as if he's competing against a gaudy LA "boutique"

This is so bad. One of the worst ever at Balmain!!!!!!!!! So uninspired and empty. :yuk:

Sad....... I miss all the dirty glitter boudoir chic!

I think a lot of the posts don't know that Christophe didn't either fully design this collection or put the finishing touches on it. that's why it seems heavily borrowed from prior collections, since stylists and in-house designers finished it. Not that that fully explains why we've been seeing the same looks for the past few seasons  ....

But it should be mentioned that he had a mental breakdown and was committed to a psychiatric ward prior to finishing this.

There were some beautiful pieces here, and admittedly, given my personal penchant for silver, I swooned a little when I saw this:

Also, I do love the tuxedo looks we've been seeing since NYFW; at Proenza they did some lovely tuxedo dressing, and at Ralph Lauren as well. Balmain has kind of always had that look going on, since it's so rock-chic, and this season was no different:

(all photos studded hearts)

So maybe not a ground-breaking collection but some good looks, some pieces worthy of investment by all means. Better than holes in the t-shirts, oui?

I this was really a half done show. Considering the circumstances I'm not surprised at the final result.

Balmain these days is all about brocade, metallic, slouchy tops, brocade, structured outerwears, metallic, skinny pants, brocade, metallic, brocade, metallic, metallic, brocade :|

i'm just happy that balmain retreated from that severe hardcore biker chic look from spring/summer. while this contained some less-than-creative elements that recalled isabel marant (something that usually happens the other way around), this stuff, for the most part, remained par for the course at balmain and considering the backstage intrigue surrounding the house of late, a pretty stand up effort. and i don't understand how the critics can continue to spout that this stuff remains exactly the same when not one biker jacket and/or reference appeared on runway, not one instance of the baroque or that ubiquitous purple appeared on runway, not even a nod toward the military references of just eighteen months ago appeared on runway. this stuff presented something fresh for the house and in a way that's still more ineffably cool than most shows we've seen all week....even without the designer present.

I like it, the fact that stylist has changed so i see some different Balmain girls look more soft and sleek in a way. So far I like it eventhough there's no hugh difference in overall.
