Balmain F/W 12.13 Paris

Thanks for posting the detail shots, I really like those. I find the collection rather disappointing and it's mainly because it's too much of the same...and it's just too much of everything, really. You can see in the detail shots that all the embroideries and patterns are divine but it would all look so much better if it was a bit toned down and not so overwhelming. Also the heaviness of the boxy jackets just doesn't work for Balmain, I'd feel like I was wearing a flashing billboard if I had to wear one of those jackets.
I love the look with the teal colored leather jacket because I feel like the boxy shape is balanced out well there paired with the simple white blouse and the tight velvet pants. But the other looks are so unflattering. The styling is probably one of the main problems here, as well.

This dress would probably look amazing if it was only the top part of a long gown and not a skin tight dress that goes all the way down to the ankles (so unflattering) with all the crazy detailing

Once again, I really like it. It's going to be interesting to see how Rousteing develops. I think there's so much more to come and he's just easing us into it.

I feel as if all of the embellishment's are overcompensating for a lack of design. The beading is beautiful, but I can't help but think that those pieces are going to be so expensive that they're not going to have a life beyond the runway and editorials.

What always helps for me when viewing a fashion show is making it to the end and seeing this gorgeous piece of france walking onto the runway. He's GORGEOUS. But to me it looks like Decarnin's Sid Vicious has been changed into a confident, sexy woman. No more holes, no more pants that are close to squeezing your legs off, it's 100% luxury now. The prices are still through the roof, but you're getting what you're buying instead of a 25,000$ jacket that has safety pins on it. This collection was luxurious, glamorous, you name it. I also noticed with the jackets (like look 7) the shoulders are so much more softer. They're not about to poke your eyes out. I think Olivier is an amazing replacement, and the fact that he's the hottest designer out there helps.

I really like this collection. The detailing is just incredible. The only thing that could have made this better was if the jackets didn't like they had been built around a cardboard box.

That's a good collection. I'm in love with the black pant that has pearls on the sides ...

After seeing close up,the price must be extremely expensive. However, it's better to spend nearly 10,000 on embellishment dress instead of ripped shirt. Bravo

I loved this collection, all the pieces were stunning & the overall styling was impeccable. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

I think that some there is a lot of artistry in this collection, in fact there is too much artistry and several of the looks are over-wrought. I think that the best looks on the runway, and what will play better on the red carpet, are the pairings of the elaborate tops with the simpler bottoms.

The shoes are hideous but I can see me liking them on a young celeb, and in this case let the shoes be the statement and keep everything else simple.

The detail images drive home how overdone this stuff is, BUT I would actually like to see a behind the scenes video on the making of this collection just to see the craftspeople at work.

I don't expect to see Balmain doing couture anytime soon, and I really don't care for the roses and the pastel embellishments, but if Olivier conceptualized the embellishments, I feel like at some future point (when he has matured more) I would like to see a Olivier Rousteing couture collection.

Bette's jacket is great, really delicate. But the whole show seems a little bit faint.

I am completely in love with that collection especially that teal colored jacket on Kati. So much so that I am going to get it in black :-D
