Best Self-Tanners

I've never used Fake Bake but I have seen people on this thread say that they liked it.

Has anyone tried the sunless tanning lotion, spray or foam by Mystic Tan? On their website it says if you can't make it to the booth, they same tan is available for sunless tanning at home. I really like the tan that a Mystic Tanning booth gives but I don't always feel like paying $30 per session!

Here is the website; you can order online:

I just read a Consumer Reports and they listed L'Oreal Sublime Glow as the best. Ive used that one before and really liked it. I like that it doesnt have that awful smell that most self tanners have.

Does anyone use or has used fake bake? In paticular the new fake bake gold stuff? I have heard it is good in a magazine but I don't know, its quite pricey and I would rather hear from other people who have used it.

I just ordered the Fake Bake mousse tri-pack, I wanted to buy it at Ulta because I have a 20% off coupon but they only had the lotion tri-pack not the mousse one. I wanted the mousse because it is less likely to break out my back and chest then the lotion. From a different website I ordered Au Courant Sensitive Face Gel, which is supposed to be really good. I've read that the Fake Bake lotion and mousse are rose scented. If you can use the lotion and live near an Ulta just ask if they can give you a 20% off coupon, mine was mailed to me don't know if they have them in store.

I should get them in by next week and after I use them I'll let you all know how I liked them. I usually read reviews from amazon.com and sunless.com too.

I recently used the Neutrogena sunless foam...yeah...I will say this it actually did Not streak which surprised me since I didn't expect that claim to be true as many self-tanners streak. BUT it turned me a sort of melon color...yeah...oh and it smelled really bad.

I used Jergen's Natural Glow moisturizer last year just on my legs and it did not make me orange but it did streak a bit and smelled too strongly to wear during the day.

I have come to realize that though there are many great inexpensive products in the beauty market, some products you really have to spend more or you get crap. Sunless tanners seem to be one of those products. Just shop around for the best prices on the more expensive ones and think of it this way if you keep buying less expensive products that don't work then you just may end up paying more for those then you would have if you had bought the more expensive products to begin with. The esthetician at Ulta told me after my Neutrogena experience to never buy sunless tanning products in bright orange or yellow packages because they will turn you that color.

question - used fake bake for the first time (jergen's AND clarins) - noticed that color transferred to my WHITE top at clubs when I ended up dancing up a sweat. Happen to anyone?

i'm quite intrigued by this sunless tanner stuff... :shifty:
what do people think about the clarins sunless tanner? i heard that stuff was good for a very very subtle tan, which is what i'm looking for

I am about to try Dove Energy Glow. I am very pale; I will report back and let you know how it looks.

I bought Clarins Intense Bronze and the effect lives up to the name. I tanned INTENSELY!!!!!

After one application I looked like I've spent a week under the sun (it's very brown, not orange or anything). It's applied with a cotton pad/ball, the consistency is more liquid than the Liquid Bronze, which has a creamy consistency. My skin broke out after I used it a second time the next day (there was a BBQ I had to attend and wanted to flash everyone there with that incredible tan), but my skin isn't prone to breakouts, so it subsided quickly over the next 3 days.

So.....

Liquid Bronze when you want a healthy glow.

Intense Bronze when you wanna go ALL OUT TANNED.

I've had excellent luck with the Dove Energy Glow. Looks very natural, doesn't streak, and the smell isn't too bad. I like it much better than the Jergens which streaked on me and smells horrible, IMO.

How do you fix a streak by the ankles? Are there any rememdies for getting rid of them (or how do you prevent them?)? I used Loreal Sublime Bronze and I'm very happy with the results, but I wasn't careful enough around the ankle and I've got a nice little streak by the heel that I want to get rid of - help!
Thanks in advance!!

I've heard that gently rubbing a lemon or lime on the streak with lighten it/make it disappear. When I get streaks i usually just scrub it in the tub and even it out when i apply another layer.

I might have posted this already but i LOVE this stuff

I like St Tropez. It goes a really nice natural brown on me and it's virtually impossible to streak. Most others make me look horribly orange and/or they streak. I want to try the Chanel one for the face- it has good reviews on MUA.

Unfortunately, both Holiday Skin and Ella Bache Great Tan both gave me this horrible rash on my neck/chest. I don't usually react to products on my body so it was a bit strange.

anyone know of a dark self tanner that is anti allergenic? i used self tanner by loreal today and now i've got a huge rash :( also..if you use regular self tanner on your face, will it make you break out?

it's $45 though. i'm a college student, lol...
anything else that's antiallergenic?

now i used the chanel face tanner and it made me an ugly orange color :(

and to anyone that uses fake bake, it wont stain your clothes if you apply it at night and shower in the morning. that way all the extra "stuff" comes off and it won't transfer to your clothing

ive been using L'oreal Sublime Bronzer for a few years and i love it. it looks really natural, i always compare my arms to my sister who has a real tan and it looks about the same. the best one ive used is the tinted one in medium tan.

the thing i dont like about the gelee is that sometimes it fade away evenly, can get a little bit freckly. the lotion isnt great on the face, i dont put them in my eyes but i think just the fumey-ness hurts my eyes and makes me tear up..also it stains hands more because its lotion so it seeps into your hands faster than you can wash off!

oo and remember to wash your hands with soap and then again with toothpaste! there is something in it that helps remove any residue of fakebake. i always leave hands for last, i drop on a paper towel and rub on the the tops of my hands and NOT the fingers and blend. avoid fingers because for some reason it soaks up fake bake like crazy and always ends up darker than rest of hands.

I have Dove Energy glow and Nivea Summer Touch

They're both really great! The Nivea absorbs immediately while the Dove was a bit slower. No orangy-ness (very important). They both smell great!

I have the Energy Glow, still have not tried it. I also had gotten a Clinique tinted one and love it! It made me golden, not orange, not even that dark, just a bit of color. I am really hooked on the fact that it's tinted, you really see where it's going and can rub it in, so NO streaks. Love it.
