Best Self-Tanners

anyone know of a dark self tanner that is anti allergenic? i used self tanner by loreal today and now i've got a huge rash :( also..if you use regular self tanner on your face, will it make you break out?
I'm not sure if it's antiallergenic, but I'm pretty sensitive and I use Savage Bronzer( $10 at sallys beauty supply).. it dries in 60 seconds and seriously gives the deepest tan I've ever gotten from a bottle. I've used it on my face with no problem.

I have the Energy Glow, still have not tried it. I also had gotten a Clinique tinted one and love it! It made me golden, not orange, not even that dark, just a bit of color. I am really hooked on the fact that it's tinted, you really see where it's going and can rub it in, so NO streaks. Love it.
Energy glow makes me sort of orange and it fades really unevenly/blotchy. Could be just be me though, seems like everyone else loves it!

I'm currently using L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Milk, mixed with Piz Buin Apres Soleil lotion (in the blue bottle. it smells so good, but like nothing natural. it's freaky!) in a 1:2 ratio (1 being Sublime Bronze). I gotta say it works really nice.

I also bought the dry mist, but it's crap. It says that it can be used without hands, but I find it too hard to aim right, with the right amount all over.

For my hands I do this: After I'm with the body, I wash my hands but pay attention that I'm only really wetting and soaping my palms. Then, after I careflly patted my hands dry on a dark towel (!!!), I rub the back of my hands against areas where I feel that there is an excess of lotion. Then, using the back of my hands, I try to spread it evenly (sounds like a lot of work, lol)

I also loved the Gel, but somehow it got too liquidy for my taste. Whenever I'd open the lid, the stuff would fall out. I still use bit of it, when I want some tan which is somewhere between the 2 Clarins I'm using.

The Sublime Bronze wipes are AWESOME too! They turn you SUPER DUPER dark. I plan on using the 2 i bought until I' naturally tanned, so the effect will make me look like a Hapa

And yes, I got at least 7 different self tanning products, most of them L'Oreal and Clarins. What can I do? Each product entices me with promises of an even BETTER tan! I'm the kind of kid who is loved by the marketing types. I'm easy  :ninja: :flower:

You're not alone. Dove Energy Glow fades unevenly/blotchy on me as well. I like the color I get and as long as I use it every day I'm good; but if I miss a day or two I'm a blotchy mess and I have to let it fade before I start again.

I've tried many self-tanners that I liked, including clarins and st. tropez, but I'm looking for one that's more of a skin stain, or dye...meaning it will last longer (scary, I know!). anyone know some good long-lasting ones?

Just tried st.tropez last night. It is well good. My boyfriend really likes the shade it has gone becasue its is most like what i go on holiday. The going on brown is good too because itmeans he isn't scared to put it on my back for me.

I just bought the Jergens to try over break because if it doesn't come out well, then nobody has to see me! I had the cherry almond lotion with me because I've read such horrible things about how it smelled, but the bottles now have "new fragrance" written on them and I barely notice anything! I mean, it's definitely scented, but it's not bad.

ooh i desperately want to self-tan over break. im feeling particularly pasty at the moment. i feel secure in trying the loreal wipes for my body but do you guys have any advice on what I should use for m face? I'm greek/mediterranean and usually tan a deep brown so anything that could achieve that most natural result would be best! Thank you

Clarins Intense Bronze Self Tanning Tint! It's really THE SH*T! Makes you SO DARK after 2 applications. And still looks natural. Ask for a sample Woodenhouse.

try the Clarins' i keep fawning over. trust me, you get subtle but nicely tanned results when you use the lotion and all out equatorian tan when you use the intense one.

I'm currently using medium L'Oreal Sublime self-tanning lotion every three days, and Jergens daily glow (medium) on the off days. The result is much better than my natural pale-ness but still a tad on the yellow side.

Jergens is great for a couple applications, but after a week it looks a little uneven and you tend to look dirty. However this can be avoided if it is used more sparingly, and applied very carefully. I like it if i'm wearing short sleeves in the winter so im not blindingly pale..but it does wear off on clothes.

Haha, never use the Neutrogena stuff that's brown and comes out like foam. I used it in 6th grade and it left me orange and patchy. They've probably modified it since then.

....... and also the worst...that is, if you've tried any...
.

For my avatar pic, i used "Dream Tan" from BB shop. More like axle grease.
Great for photo sessions, and of course competitions...but little good for anything else.

^^ You look orange.

I used to try Clarins and it just looks too unnatural (even their Refreshing Milk) and they discontinued their Bronzing Creme Compact. I'll just be myself and be pale. It never looks natural to be tan in winter, even if you live in California like I do.
