Best Self-Tanners

I bought the same stuff, the Jergens, earlier this week. I didn't know it was a partial self-tanner... I just thought the glow part was maybe pertaining to the color of the lotion, like it had a slight shimmer or something. I probably should have read into it more.

I noticed today that I had slight streaks on my left from it - I probably put too much on. Again, I found out after a couple of days of using it that it's a subtle self-tanner. :innocent: Other than my experience, I've heard rave reviews on it.

Im sure if you put it on more carefully it will work for you. Its like the lazy girls self tanner.

oh man i really wanted that stuff to work

^ Don't let my mistakes discourage you from trying it out. :flower: I put too much on, I slathered it on like a regular lotion. And I didn't exfoliate. :ninja:

Trust me, it does work, it says after 3 days you will see results, but now that i use it regularly, i see it overnight, even if the initial application fades.

I used Jergens Natural Glow, like others, and it was incredible! It says 3 days, but within about three hours I noticed a significant difference. It looks almost completely natural too.

I know, its FABULOUS!!! I buy a tube wherever I go!

I am going to try the Jergen's self tanner. .......I am fair also. *hoping this works

clarins self tanners are good, pleasant smell. the one with the multi-directional spray is really great cause you can get you back

I'm really, really fair and since seventh grade, I've been buying self-tanners. You name it, I've bought it. I HATE THEM! For a while, I was into the neutrogena tanning foam, because you could see the color and were immediately tan. But even that smells and streaks, and once you've got the color on, it's an absolute b*tch to get it off...

BUT THEN.... I discovered.... (drumroll, please)...

SALLY HANSEN PERFECT LEGS. It sounds really lame, and when I first saw it, thought it definitely seems marketed towards old ladies with vericose veins. It doens't stain your skin, so if you make a mistake, it's easy to get off. It's more like make up for your skin. The best way to use it is to get naked, cover your hair and spray it about 8 inches away from your body (it's aeresol) and all over. It makes a misty hair-spray like spray so you can spray it behind you and step into it to get your back.

This is also a really messy way, as it gets over EVERYTHING (carpet, walls, clothes)... so what I began doing is spraying it directly on my skin, really close, and then taking a self-tanning mit and rubbing it all over and all in. Then, I TAKE A SHOWER, but don't scrub. This washes off the icky-feeling so you don't feel layered, but the tanner stays on.

And then I put lotion on, which helps even the 'tan' out and you can sort of transfer the color, etc. If you don't scrub in the shower, the 'tan' lasts about 2-3 days. A can will do my entire body 2-3 times, probably, but I normally just do whatever skin is exposed...

There was a great picture I was looking for, but I can't find it... so here's a different picture that sort of shows the tan (although I think I was using a shade that was a little too dark, as I'm slightly orange! HA!) That's me in my avator, super super pale and here's a pic of me with the sally hansen stuff (keep in mind I was using a shade that was too dark, hence the orangey-bronze; the lighter shade which I use now looks much more natural!). But the point is, if you mess up, it's easy to wash/scrub off. It's very easy to apply. It's not too expensive. You can shower right afterwards. If I were going to tan my whole body, I'd set aside an extra 20-30 minutes in my routine.

Whew! That was long!

i've tried the neutrogena build-a-tan...
i already had quite a bit of color..
and have naturally olive skin...
but this stuff worked perfectly....subtle at first...
and just 'builds' upon your natural color..

i'd recommend it..

Tanners ??

I just bought the Jergens natural glow moisturizer, i have a question? Does it really work??Can you put it on ur face, and is it good for your skinn???

Thanxssss^_^

It works alright!.... bit of a strange smell though. I didn't try on the face but it made my lets nice and tan. Most natural tan i've ever gotten from a bottle...although you have to apply it every day for about 4 days to start noticing the color.

it seemed to work more on my palms even after washing than on my legs...but i am a very untan person. its not orange though which is awesome! embrace your natural color it's probably beautiful.

BODY- Lancome's Flash Bronzing Spray,
St Tropez Bronzing mist

Sprays just give a much more even result (always scrub first though!) and I havn't found any others that can match these in colour- natural brown. St Tropez is a slightly better colour (a bit deeper than Lancome's) but is quite messy. It sinks into your skin perfectly and is dry in a matter of minutes but will stain anything it is sprayed onto (comes out in wash though). Whereas Lancome's is colour free, so no fuss, and also dries instantly. I suppose it's just a matter of how much fuss you can be bothered with! Never the less, these are two fantastic products!

FACE- Lancom's Flash Bronzer Face Gel
Again, a really natural colour, subtle too, so you can build it up as much as you want.

is the jergens natural glow an actual self tanner, or just sort of like a tinted mosturizer?

oooh, I love to be tan but I don't love sitting out in the sun (what, with all the wrinkles and skin cancer and all...) so I'm always trying self-tanners. However, I have been thus far unsucessful in finding one that doesn't turn me orange! I tried the jergens natural glow and yucky color. I'm so dissapointed, I had such high hopes for that one, but no luck. Plus like every other self tanner I have tried this season, it smells so icky. So now I'm all about going back to the bronzing powders- I  bobbi brown in medium and benefit in hoola with a smidgen of nars sin blush to keep it glowey. Also, the best trick I found with all my self tanning adventures is to wash your hands with toothpaste and soap- no kidding, it realllllly takes the color off your hands!

When I bought it, I thought it was just a tinted moisturizer. I had no idea it was a sunless tanner. So when I was applying it, I wondered what the aweful smell was...

Jergens Natural Glow IS a self tanner, but it's a more subtle color. Of course, it's not so subtle if you apply it regularly. I like it. The color's natural, and you get color little-by-little, which means no obvious streaks or marks if you make a mistake. The downfall? The SMELL. Aweful.

I bought Lancome's self tanner (flash bronzer it's called) in the aerosole pump this weekend. The color was good, but a little streaky around the ankles and wrists. I thought it was a lot more streaky than St. Tropez, but I liked the color that Lancome gave. It was pretty dark after 1 application, whereas I have to do 2-3 applications of the St. Tropez for the same color. It was also pretty sticky for about an hour. One plus about the Lancome Spray is that I sprayed my back all by myself and it looked pretty good!

Good luck "tanning"!

wow, thank you erin! :flower:
hmmm...i think i might switch over to this then, cause im using the neutrogena "build-a-tan" right now, and it seems like it holds the same concept, but the neutrogena sorta makes me orangey
