Best Self-Tanners

After trying it again- Jergen's Natural Glow actually works quite well. If you're pale though it looks browner after the 2nd/3rd application, dont get freaked out by the first orangey application, or if you do it for a few days then stop and it'll fade and look browner. Right now Jergens is the only thing my (parents) budget will allow, but if I had a little more money I'd definitley try California North or doing Mystic level 1.!

i use L'oreal sublime bronze and i find it works really well when putting it on and then the actual colour is nice... however i when it starts to fade after a few days, it peels off very unevenly and looks really gross! Does anyone else use this? Does it happen to their skin ?

ahh i cant find a booth here in canada vancouver that offers mystic tan, i heard paris ilton's tan is mystic tan

I'm addicted to Fake Bake. I love it!!! I think the mango spray that you put on before the actual tanner smells great and I always look really dark after using it. It's very natural, since I turn orange when i use Neutrogena and Sublime Bronze. I would highly recommend that anyone who uses it wears gloves though, since it tends to stain.

Fake tan

hey can any body recommend me a decent but budget fake tan. im sick of my winter pastyness and want to shake things up with a bit of color!

Clarins selftanner ( i've tried the milk version)
L'oreal sublime bronzer
TBS selftanner (not that bad either)
and Clinique face gel bronzer

Merged with existing self-tanner thread. Please use the search function prior to posting.

A lot of people here seem to be recommending Jergen's Natural Glow and Neutrogena's Build a Tan. Do these self-tanners make you orange or brown? I found the Jergens product at the shop today, and the colours it showed on the package were brown, and the Neutrogena sample colours were more orange/golden.

Maybe it depends on the colour of your real skin colour? If you're pale, you go orange and if you already have darker skin, you go browner?? I'm wondering because I kind of like the a-little-orange look.:D

^ I have really pale, freckly, Irish skin ( a la Lindsey Lohan) and the Jergen's natural glow in the lightest shade gives me a light brown tint..although the first couple days when I first apply it, it does look orangy, once it builds up past the second day it's a great color.

I sent Sephora an email about if St. Tropez would turn my skin orange and they sent me back this:

SELF TANNERS-Fair Skin: Clarins and St. Tropez offer a natural,
buildable tan suitable for all skin tones.
Clarins Self Tanning Milk SPF 6
Clarins Self Tanning Instant Spray
Clarins Self Tanning Instant Gel
St. Tropez Tinted Self Tanning Lotion - Step 3
St. Tropez Whipped Bronze Self Tanning Mousse

I can definitely trust this list because looking through their website, they don't even sell some of these products, so I thought that was really cool of them! If anyone can provide reviews on the above products that would be great.

I'm also still really contemplating the California North self tanner, it looks great to me, plus a review on their site was from someone really pale/freckly like me lol and they said it was great. It's from dermadoctor.com then go to conditions>self tanners.

Oh wow, nice that you got a reply like that from Sephora...I didn't even know they were emailable! Where is the best place to purchase St. Tropez?

^ probably sephora because you can get the set of 3-- exfoliator/moisterizer/tanning lotion..looking on the site now it looks like they only have the mini size set? probably have the full size in the store though!

definitely the darkest tan ive used is Le Tan Fast extra dark. the colour is quite natural, a touch golden but id rate it 4 1/2 out of 5 (the cream isnt tinted and so application might be tricky, but at least you dont need gloves)

ATTENTON!!
Everyone here should try this chanel slef-tanner, it's AMAZING!!
I tried it in golden(olive complexion, yellow undertone) and it looked gorgeous
i think it will show a bit darker on lighter skins, but on me it gave this natural sun-kissed tan.
light textured, doesn't have the stinky smell usualy self tanners have plus and it doesnt dry out skin afterwards
you gotta love this product....

^ hmm I didn't know they had a self tanner?!

Question: (I posted this in the help me find..thread as well); does anyone know what brand self tanner is in a gold metallic tube with the cap at the bottom? I can't remember the brand..all I know is it's amazingly natural looking...please please help ifyou know!!

I've also been thinking that maybe spray on tan would be better than an actual "Mystic" booth, 1) you have an actual person spraying you so if there's a mistake it can be fixed, etc. They can see how pale/dark you are and so could accomadate that. I'm so active in this thread b/c I'm amazingly pale and wish I was tan lol!!

Why do people wear fake tan? Its ugly. You just look stupid.

You should love the colour of your skin.

Thank you for that input but why come to this thread just to say that? very condescending..

Don't know.. Ive only used Garnier, and my face became orange..

So don't use Garnier. :)
