Bottega Veneta Bags

I am now beginning to regret not going into the BV boutique on Rue du Fauborg St Honore, when I was in Paris!!! Was too focused on other things then...

What would be a good FIRST BV to own?

You should try to get your hands on one of their woven leather totes/hobos, it's a very distinctive BV style.

The leather is superb! You definitely won't regret getting one!

Liz Claiborne is planning on releasing very nice woven leather hobos and satchels.. in Spring '06... I swear... when I saw the sample, I was like "is that Bottega!?!?!"

Thanks, chiangsi....Will go do some research first and report back later....

oops just saw the prev page re your orange hobo. i love mine too - it's a gd size and yesterday i threw so much shopping into it and cant get over how soft the leather is.

One day I will get this to do my grocery shopping
*dream on (or sell your other bags :innocent:)*

iSpot,

I  that bag, but it's so expensive! I really like this hobo that will be coming out in the fall, but would really like to see it in person first.

All this talk has re-awakened my lemming for another woven leather bag.

Here are some really gorgeous styles:

I am really in love with both of them-so classy and pretty. With BV, you know that quality will not be a problem!:woot:

Yup.
With a BV, it's not too over-exposed, yet the quality is so outstanding that people will know that it is a a piece of fine worksmanship.

I've had people coming up to ask me where I got my bag from and it's such a thrill, cos I got it on sale from NM!! :woot:

They have also a smaller version of the woven bag for fall:heart::heart:

^^^ That smaller woven bag is NICE :woot: ! And I'm sure won't cost anywhere near $4k - at least I hope not  .

the small is certainly a more practical size, but the original large cabat had something the small doesn't have. I think the largeness made it special, extra lux. I love the cabat.

the cabat famously takes two men two days to make, there's a certain appeal in the honesty of the craftmanship involved.

the large is $4900, the small $3800. probably worth every penny, but . . .

I have a light brown/ dark brown leather woven medium tote from a few years ago. I love mine!

im a new fan of BV bags and thinking of getting one, but im afraid there will be lots of replicas, and with the simplicity of these bags it would be hard to tell the difference right? besides the material used.. so im still debating whether or not to spend 800+ on an easily replicated bag, help!

I've never seen a bv replica in person, but I would be shocked if you couldn't tell. the reason these bags are so expensive is the craftsmanship which I'm sure cannot be replicated for $99. but with that said, who cares if there are knockoffs? no matter how hard the government and industry try there will always be knockoffs. also, bv has no trademark in woven leather so there will be bags that to the untrained eye will look like bv (for ex, I think cole haan recently issued a collection of woven leather bags). my point is that a well made bag will make you happy -- isn't that all that matters?? I have several and just the smell of them is worth the $$.
