Bottega Veneta Bags

a bottega cannot be faked because of the quality of the leather and how well it ages- soft, supple and silklike and for many that was one of the major appeals of the bags. a real bottega is instanly recoginsed which is why even the high street copies should be avoided.

are we certain it's bv? I know the woven leather is a bv hallmark, but it just doesn't strike me as a bv style (at least not a tomas maier bv style). the exposed brass rivets, the hanging strap thing. it does remind me of pre-maier bv (I had a non-woven bv in this exact color in the early 90's), but I don't see lilo carrying a "vintage" bag. she always seems to carry the latest and greatest. ooh, I love mysteries!

Yup, I would have to agree. I spent a few delicious minutes inspecting BV at a local shop yesterday. They are the only bags I could find in this upsacle store that were leather-lined, so they really feel luxurious.

Does anybody know of another brand that delivers such top quality? I have been reading other threads, and have my own experience with a Balenciaga, and have to say that there is a lot of dissatisfaction with the quality that the other 1k+ bags deliver.

really? I'm not aware of this. I love my balenciaga and think it's worth every penny I paid. it's not bottega, but then that's not the point.

Don't get me wrong, I love my Balenciaga too, but it's not QUALITY. Much like the Chloe Paddingtons, they're build to look vintage, so they age quickly. But the BVs look like the kind of bag you pass down to your kids (or your niece if you're not reproducing). Of course, I am just speaking through my hat since I don't actually own one -- yet.

I really agree. I own two bottega veneta bags now. I bought the first one brand new at half the price on yoox, and the second one was vintage. BOth are gorgeous, really high quality. The vintage one has the suede lining a little dirty, and that's a sign that the bag has been used, but the leather is gorgeous, soft, no sign of wear. And I think the intrecciato are partially hand-made, so the foolish price makes a little sense.
But the balenciagas...I was going to buy the classic, but when I went to the store I was really upset about the leather: how thiny an already cracking! Someone in the balenciaga thread wrote that the bags from past collections (2002, 2003...) were better quality, so lucky who had a balenciaga those days.

for white, i like their plain weaved hobo better.
i think this bag looks best in brown or black.:flower:

I think you are better off with the classic woven hobo in white than that one. It is cleaner and will give you more years of wear.

edit: didn't see cloud's post, so basicaly I just agree with cloud. :flower:

Congrats on your new bag. What colour? Whatsit like inside? How does it hang when you carry it? Dish dish dish.

thanks =D it's suede inside,..the shape is very nice when i carry it...the leather is sooo soft!

blythe10...CONGRATULATIONS on your new purchase!!! Gorgeous, gorgeous bag!! Saw it in the BV boutique in Singapore. The SA informed that the grommet intrecciatos were the items directly from the catwalk i.e. fashion show pieces. Hence very unique and pricier than the regular intrecciatos. Also the grommet bags were in deer skin while the regular ones were in nappa or lamb skin. The deer skin is softer and more durable. When I was there, they had red, white and gold grommet bags. The gold one was in gold-dust suede. Cost SGD3100+.

The lamb skin intrecciatos cost SGD1980+/- for Medium size. SGD2400 for Large size. S'pore BV had these in salmon, light green, blue, white, brown and black. Somehow the Large looked and sat better on the shoulder than the Medium. And I'm only 5'3".

I like the clip-framed intrecciato one. It is a long, shoulder bag and looks like a doctor's bag. NAP had it in fuschia pink a season or two ago. S'pore BV had it in black, brown and red. Cost SGD2500.

Baghag, from another Singapore poster, I'm so glad for all that information. I so *heart* BV!

I love the ones Brian and Morgan posted. I usually like the more unusual Bottega Veneta bags instead of the typical woven bags, these ones for example:
