Bottega Veneta F/W 2020.21 Milan

i hope it will grow on me more

the presentation was really good though

Good! This is the first collection where I finally get a bit of what I got from his pre-collections. I love his Prefall and resort but his main collection was a total disappointment.

This collection is definitely more achieved than the SS one. I get that he was behind Celine by Philo but so many pieces are reminiscent of the SS2018 collection...The fringes, the sequined turtleneck long sleeves dresses, the huge fluo boots (they were beige on the Celine runway).
That being said, I loved the energy of the show and the cast. I really love the sequined pants, the chunky knitted dresses with the chain neckline, the fur coats, the sequined big tshirt dresses, the menswear and some of the bags. The footwear is still problematic and the versions of the dress on Adut are horrible!

But it was a good collection and he is building his vocabulary...Very much in the spirit of Celine but still very different (Celine was more playful and precise).

I can’t wait for the campaign now! I know he won’t disappoint in that department...

I genuinely love Lee's Veneta accessories, and most of his pieces look great in stores, but I don't think he is cut out for runway shows. It's just all so unexciting. I regret wasting my time watching the show.

very nice: i like the consistent long and lean silhouette
fantastic bags!

Sadly in my opinion this collection is Daniel's worst so far. There's only one look that I really like, the lace shirt with those really high waisted pants. The rest is just forgettable and ugly without any particular reason.

To be honest I feel quite lost with this new Bottega. The first show was strong, sterile and tough, the second one was more lifestyle oriented and relaxed. This one is like a trunk show with some random stuff done in a boring colour palette mixed with some Céline hints. Of course it's going to be everywhere because the Bottega marketing is literally everywhere but the whole thing gets less and less desirable with time.

There was a certain luxurious High level feel to all the clothing ,shoes & accessories with Tomas Maier at the helm...Particularly the Menswear which i absolutely loved ...This version of Bottega Veneta i can't relate to or get the direction of & the footwear is exceptionally bad...Not for me sorry...

I cannot stop seeing his accesories on my feed but I never actually remember the show where they came from...

He is not the best when it comes to showcase his work on a runway but looking closely the clothes were good. The menswear did not disappoint at all for me.

Some hits and misses for the ww part though. I am sure the campaign will help to sell it.

Something about this shows come across so serious that a lot of times many of the looks, particularly the menswear ends up looking like a parody of fashion, i.e Zoolander.

I am so underwhelmed. Everything is so messy and it’s just not a very good collection overall.

Also, can he please stop with those horrendous raincoat material pieces he always seems to make? Put them in store or whatever but not on the runway.

I love the collection. But the shoes, set and music leave so much to be desired and really detracts from the clothing.

interesting comments here ! I’m in two minds about this. I like that it’s almost old fashioned in its seriousness and emphasis on design. But there’s something unsure and hesitant about the collection , like he’s still looking for himself amongst the commercial demands of the marketing department who seem on fire . The marketing push behind this feels so well orchestrated and organised that it overshines the actual substance of his work . The Accessories are great , but the rest is unsure . Maybe just give him time .
