Hello everyone...
I am contemplating getting a brazilian bikini wax in about 2 weeks, or so. Can anyone offer any advice on what the expect or if there is any preping* that should be done?
Thank you for your input, I am way nervous...I am not good with pain. ^_^

waxing is like going on a rollacoaster ride... once its starts you have to stay with it till its over... speak to your beautician about what to do to prepare

it's not so bad. take 2 advil before you go and just go for it. no need to psyche yourself up too much or over analyze it.

also, splurge and go to a good salon for the first time since the first time will hurt the most. after that it's never as bad each subsequent time so that's when you can go for a cheaper place if necessary.

As far as the pain, if my first time getting a brazilian was a 10, the second is an 8 and now after 4 years of going once a month the pain is about a 5. so it really gets better with time. But the fisrt time does hurt like hell, just cusk it up and you'll be fine. it'll be over and done with in no time and the pain goes away very quickly.

and once you start you'll never go back ;)

I have never waxed, but I would like to try. I don't know what to expect, what to ask for, how much to pay, where to go (or whether to do it myself :ninja:), how frequently to go (how long does it last I mean), what to wear,:( what to be careful of...really anything at all.:ninja: I also think I'd be kind of embarrassed to have someone else working in so private an area. I know that they're professionals, but still.

Brazilian means waxing everything, right? What are other 'styles'? Haha, I have no idea what I'm doing...

Since the name reminded me, does anyone know what people actually do in South American countries as far as waxing/shaving (legs and armpits in particular)? Just curious, because I'm moving there (probably to Argentina) next year. These are the weird, random questions you come up with when you've never been out of the country and you have a long time to think about the location change. My posts will be full of random questions for a while. :innocent:

Ouch!!!! All I know is it hurts a hell lot! Don't they put some ice before doing the wax or anything?

I'm considering doing this as well before my vacation to Boca in early May (yay for sunshine!) I've tried just about everything aside from a professional wax job (yes, i've tried at home bikini waxing, insane amounts of pain) and I don't want to deal with shaving every day to look beach presentable. I suppose my two biggest concerns right now is the pain and the...embarassment

Its really not so bad. And don't be embarassed...this is what these ppl. do for a living. They have seen it all a thousand times. Its a bit painful, but totally worth it. You'll never go back to regular waxing again. I promise! Just try to relax and it makes it much better.

A. Take Advil about half an hour prior to getting waxed.
B. Make sure that they will be using hard wax...hurts much less. I can't even explain how much better hard wax is.
C. Exfoliate afterwards.
D. Tend Skin. It works miracles.

It's not bad--just try to relax and don't be embarrassed. My first time the woman said to me, "Do you really think I'm going to remember you when I do over 15 clients a day?" True.

Good luck!:flower:

^ Mine said the same kinda. " I do this for a living. Do you think I care or remember how yours looks? I see hundreds a month. Seriously, you don't need to turn as red as your crotch will me in a minute."

I was looking for a great job for this summer !! ummm interesting! AHAHAHA

I'm happy not to deal with this waxing thing!

It's not that bad, and it's definitly worth it. I second Tend Skin also.

What is hard wax exactly? Is it the one that the wax itself dries, and you pull it off instead of using the cloth? Because I've had that one once, and it was perfect! Very smooth and no bumps! But then recently I started going to a different place, and they use the cloth strip kind and it sucked. More painful, and I'm all bumpy! Almost like pimples! Ach! Anyone know how to get rid of them? And quick!

What do you guys do between two appointments?? Isn't it gross that all the hair is growing back? Does it have to be 2mm (sorry to go into details :innocent:)?

To ease the pain of waxing - Do NOT get a bikini wax right before (pms) or during the first few days of your period. Your skin is way more sensitive during that time.
Also, avoid coffee or other caffeinated beverages 24 hours before your appointment.

Oh my God .. bloody amazing! .. some sections hurt a bit .. but because my 'waxer' was so friendly and very talkative, it took my mind off it :D

Oh and yes, it was the hard wax stuff you lot are talking about :D

Going back in about 5 weeks.

FoxyC, glad it went well for you. I had my first brazilian over 4 years ago and have been doing it ever since. and it will never hurt as bad as the first time
