Lightening / Coloring Eyebrows

I've been doing it myself with regular haircolor for a few years now. When I had it done at a salon my eyebrows ended up nearly black which looked horrible with my light blond hair!

Thanks for the tips about professional brow dye everyone...I'll have to check that out.

I put peroxide on my eyebrows, it turned them a faint rusty red

ok is there any possible way to lighten or dye your eyebrows thats safe and will not have drastic consequences?? or can it just not be done!!! i know u can get it done at some slaons but i want to do it at home in a relatively cheap way! however i do not want my eyebrows to fall off my face, go bright yellow, white or some hideous unnatural colour!!! please help me as ive dyed my hair and its way lighter than my eyebrows!! has anyone ever lightened or dyed their eyebrows? if so what did it turn out like, how long did it last?

I dye my eyebrows and lashes myself with a kit that I buy down the drugstore. Its easy, no disasters at all - although if you are in the United States, I believe that eyebrow /lash tinting is illegal.

lady muck, i live in the uk too. whats the name of the drugstore and the brand of the kit? and your sure its easy cos trust me if theres a way to mess it up it will be me that does it!!! lol thanks for replying:D

I would not do it at home. You can get both eyelashes and eyebrows tinted at a local beauty salon for abouts £10. SO thats probally our best bet. My beautition person said they always get people coming in having used those kits and messing it up. It would just be easier to get a professional to do it for you, much less hasssle.

I use to dye my eyebrows at home.

The method I used was to first take peroxide, pour some in the little cap, then use a q-tip to carefully apply it, you might want to squeeze the q-tip first to remove excess peroxide and have some tissue at hand in case it starts to run.

I would go over my eyebrows a few times depending on how light I wanted them and then wash them when I was done.

I would also sometimes dye them afterwards using the leftover dye from my hair colour kit, also applying with a Q-tip.

You just have to be careful.

I just had mine dyed to match my hair when I was at the salon the other day and to be perfectly honest I am much more careful then my hairdresser was.

It is not illegal to have your brows dyed in the States and I think the same goes for lash tiniting, though it is widely thought that having your lashes tinted is dangerous and I would never do it.

OMG DOES THAT REALLY WORK?? I have been asking how to do it for like 2 months now and nobody knew how!! anyway i have alot of questions that im hoping you can answer well for starters is it safe to use the same dye you use for your hair? if so how long do you keep the dye on for?i have dark eyebrows and want my eyebrows blond to match my hair i know its weird im a natural blond but i got black eyebrows:rolleyes: ok last question what hairdye and what blond color would look most natural? If you can answer those questions i would be sooooo thankful

I dye my eyebrows at home too. My hairdresser told me that I can do it by myself. I use hair dye (nº8, It's a blonde colour) I put it on my brows like 5 or 8 minutes, and voila!

Mines are this colour:

If you use decolorant (¿?) they turn orange

Hi, just wondering what to do if you have light eyebrows and want them darker? Can you do this?
Thank you =)

i lighten mine with "Jolen creme bleach" and it works great. a lil green/white box u can get at any drugstore! it slowly starts to lighten them so u have to b checking up on them every minute because like Neni said, they can turn orange if u leave it on too long.

My hair's black but my eyebrow hairs are sparse so they look almost grey on my skin. I'm paralysed by the fear of getting block thick chunky eyebrows that scream unnaturalness with eyebrow pencils so I'm thinking of dying my eyebrows darker, not to complete black, but a dark non-red shade of brown. What homekits are available on the UK market that are reliable?

I dye my hair reddish brown so of course, I have to do my eyebrows as well.

My eyebrows are naturally medium brown (the mousy shade) and I used to
just put bleach, leave it on for a couple of minutes until they turned red.
However, that colour was not light enough for me so I have a different routine now - I bleach them entirely (because of the roots), I dye them light brown and then I bleach them again. The result is a perfectly natural light reddish brown colour.

That may sound a bit damaging for the brows but I used to do much much worse things to them.:p

Colouring your eyebrows?

hello!

I'm thinking of re-dyeing my hair, but I'm sick of looking unnatural simply becuase my eyebrows are too light. :yuk:
Now, I dye my hair myself, using the at-home kits. (I like Revlon.) They always say not to dye one's eyebrows, I assume because of the risk of getting it in your eyes. If I don't get any colour creme in my eyes, then there shouldn't be any problems, right?

Is it safer then to get it done professionally?

Or maybe I should just go blonde...:p

if im not mistaken they do sell eyebrow dye, but i'm not sure if theres a huge choice of color or brand. me personally, i'd still be a little afraid..

i went from blonde to black hair, and i get my eyebrows dyed professionally. it looks natural and they know what they're doing, so there's not the risk of doing them yourself.
it's safe to have them dyed. and much easier than doing them yourself!

mmkay. I guess I'll just stop being so cheap and go have my hair done professionally.

I had wanted a perm (just something loose and wavy), so I was going to colour at home to avoid ammonia so my hair wouldn't be totally fried. My friend said I might look like Orphan Annie with a perm! So I'll probably just go darker again.

You all rock! Thanks!

ps it's not that expensive. i get mine dyed and waxed every two to three weeks, sometimes even going a month and they still look fine, and it's twenty dollars each time. definitely worth it if you want to look natural, imo.
