Brioni Names Justin O’Shea Creative Director

LOL

Justin O'Shea Exits Brioni
O'Shea was appointed creative director of the Kering-owned fashion house in March of this year.

MILAN, Italy — Justin O'Shea is to leave Brioni, the fashion house has announced.

BoF exclusively revealed that the Italian menswear brand had appointed O'Shea in March of this year. He had previously held the role of global fashion director at Munich-based luxury e-tailer MyTheresa.

Brioni's forthcoming Autumn/Winter 2017 collection will be presented to buyers in the Milan showroom from mid-November 2016. It will not be staged on the runway.

In a statement, Gianluca Flore, CEO of Brioni, thanked O'Shea for his collaboration with the brand during this period.

"The strategy of revitalisation of Brioni that started at the beginning of this year is set to continue being implemented through a long-term plan aimed to further establish the brand as a leader in the luxury menswear category," the brand stated in a press release.

The appointment of O’Shea — who has no formal training or experience as a designer — was an unconventional move for Kering-owned Brioni. In his role as creative director, O’Shea had been responsible for the brand’s collections as well as its image.

It's incredible how quickly decisions are being taken and then changed. I do think he was wrong at Brioni for all the obvious reasons, but they must have made the decision to take him based on cold hard facts, after all these are incredibly important roles.

It just gives me the impression that they have very little idea of what a Creative Director does. Kinda shocking really.

Even Lohan stayed longer at Ungaro...

This is what happens when you try to erase/avoid the past of an entire house for the sake of buzz and commercialism. Brioni allowed this without taking in consideration their prestige and their existing clientèle.

That awful new logo was already a announcement of a disaster.
Now, they needs to go back to their old logo and maybe redesign it a little bit and hire a proper creative director with a real star power! Oswald Boateng can do something great with a real twist.

At least, people talked about Brioni...which wasn't really the case since their partnership with James Bond.

He is gonna look somewhat silly in every single streetstyle photo from now on however well-dressed he might be
What kind of expression would you put on your face in those photos if you were in his situation. I could hardly attend fashion shows anymore...

His whole stay in the brand can be handily summed up in the following gif:

Love it!  I hope they can get it right the next time.

^^^ He's adorable.

As much as his design skills were on level with Homer Simpson’s design skills as a car designer, Justin was charming and totally hot in his hammy, Florida redneck-sleazy, trashy image… more than I can say for the majority of male designers out there.

I for one, will miss his greasy hotness.

^ You really know how to give back-handed compliment

I would just like to see some of the talented designers who aren't working right now sign on for something again ... not Brioni, though. I'm not worried about Brioni.

So is that why he posted a Brioni coffin on his Instagram yesterday?:lol:

I guess it just shows how fickle minded people in this industry is? Lol
What a shame for them to do to an established brand like this.

And while Kering's at it, they should all do us a favor and get rid of the other clown designers in their portfolio too (A.Michele and Demna G.) PLEASE

He got what he deserved. I won't miss him at all at Brioni. I just hope they'll hire a designer now.

OMG! LMAO! I didn't know he got kicked out.
Brioni should go back to what it was before all the mess.

And while Kering's at it, they should all do us a favor and get rid of the other clown designers in their portfolio too (A.Michele and Demna G.) PLEASE

The truth! I'm patiently waiting for Michele to get kicked.

A street style star doth not a designer make.
