Budget Friendly Makeup

Obsessed with Barry M nail polishes lately. They last better on your nails than Chanel.

I'm obsessed! I own 15 of them now. Cheap and cheerful. They're often on offer to so they're great to play around with colours I may not otherwise. I've just put lemon yellow on now :heart:

I'm looking to try their dazzle dusts too.

Maybelline for mascara. I like Full'n'Soft the best. I will never pay more than $10 for a basic black mascara- no point.

NYX has great stuff. Love their eyeshadows.

Essence is new to my area and has some great things. Love their lipgloss.

Wet'n'Wild has great blushes and shimmers. All over Shimmer is awesome.

Bonne Bell Golden Tan bronzer is the perfect matte bronzer. Great for contouring.

Maybelline for mascara. I like Full'n'Soft the best. I will never pay more than $10 for a basic black mascara- no point.

I was at CVS this morning and was very surprised to see a Maybelline mascara for $14.99. It was some kind of pulse or 7-layer mascara, or I don't even know... there are so many gimmicky mascaras on the market now. But $15 for a drugstore mascara? You've got to be kidding.

Finally Sleek makeup have an online store and I got 3 of their palettes. It's fabulous for the price, I love it :D

there have been so many threads dissing drugstore, but i know there's some good stuff...

i'll start:

maybelline great wear eyeliner-the only eyeliner that stays put on the inside of my eye

lipsmackers...:blush:

Yeah and the dollar shop items are even worse, but there's one company that deserves a mention. ELF cosmetics, I like their products, their brushes are surprisingly good even though their cheap and their eye shadows come in some great colors, very soft to apply too, wish they had a greater range of lip colors, but at $1 per most items you can't complain. They also have an animal friendly policy which makes me happy.

I love ELF, the eye brushes are amazing :heart: I did some reviews on this thread too I think.

I just discovered GOSH's waterproof eyeliners. They do not budge! Just amazing. I got one in a pretty yellow gold, it looks stunning on the lower waterline :shock:

I'm loving the dazzling eyes eyeliners from collection 2000,which I think you can get in both Boots and Superdrug. Super cheap and long lasting.

I really want Barry M's instant effects polish. It looks so cool but I don't want to buy it on ebay for $25.

cover girl trublend & advanced radiance powders! super cheap and the colors are pretty darn amazing, just as nice if not better then department store lines. i've tried both and it seems the trublend run slightly more neutral/less orange than the advanced powders.

they both lend the skin the most beautiful almost imperceptible sheen. in fact i love the sheen so much i dust the stuff on then take a lightly dampened sponge to cut the powdery-ness so that i'm just left with the glow.

my one gripe is that there is waaay too much of difference in shade intensity between one shade from the next, at least in my experience. however, if that does happen the slightly too dark shade works nicely as a subtle bronzer and too light as highlighter.

I love L'Oreal when it comes to budget. I absolutely love their Voluminous mascara. Their eyeshadows have good quality and pigment too. I also use their Bare Naturale make up. Cheaper than Bare Minerals and just as good.

I also love NYX. You can find it at Ulta. They have great products for a cheap price. I just got a 10 eyeshadow palette for around 5 bucks. I have many palettes, eyeliners, and lipsticks from them. Great quality too.

A L'Oreal mascara is the equivalent of $26 here in Denmark. I don't care where it's sold, it's not budget friendly at all IMO

I bought some budget friendly stuff:

-a blush brush from Catrice to take with me in my purse (€3,99), nice and soft, good as a travel brush.
-a french manicure set form Essence (€3,49), not sure if I really like french manicure, I just wanted to try it once:p.

From Hema (a local drugstore)
-an eyeshadow quad (€11), lovely shimmery colours for a night out. The texture is really smooth and velvety.
-two cream eyeshadow jumbo pencils (€3,25 each), one has a metallic black and a metallic white on the ends, the other a metallic taupy brown and pink. I know I'm never going to use the pink but the taupe is so pretty :heart:. The texture is really creamy, can be used as an eyeshadow or just as a pencil.
-an eyeshadow brush that I'm going to use as a lip brush (€2,95)

I agree...I'm not a fan of the L'Oreal brand, their eyeshadows are terrible IMO

26 dollars is quite high for L'Oreal. I'd expect that for a mascara like Diorshow.

A L'Oreal Mascara n USA is about 7-9 bucks, so I guess it's just me.

L'Oréal is not real budget friendly but it is sold among a lot of budget friendly stuff in the drugstore, so I'm putting it in this thread, not knowing where else to put it...^_^

So, I subscribed to Glamour magazine and recieved a gift, including:

- L'oréal True Match foundation in C2 Rose vanilla;
- L'oréal True Match blush in 340 Sandy pink;
- L'oréal Quad Pro eyeshadow for blue eyes;
- L'oréal Color Riche lipstick in 290 Plum passion;
- L'oréal Glam Shine lipgloss in 171 Sheer pink;
- L'oréal Indefectible lip liner in 702 Always plum;
- L'oréal Indefectible retractable eyeliner in black;
- L'oréal Volume Million Lashes mascara in black.

I had to indicate which haircolour I had, because they were going to send stuff that matched my skintone/eyecolour... which is bullsh*t since not every blonde has blue eyes and light skin.
But luckily for me I have (I dyed my hair brown but I figured they would send a foundation that was too dark for me so I ticked the box of my natural hair colour^_^), so the foundation will be a pretty good match (I think:unsure: I want to save it until one of my other foundations is empty) and the blush is a pretty peachy pink that will suit my skintone. The eyeshadow was all broken when it arrived, but I called right away and they'll send me another one. I'm also quite happy with the mascara and eyepencil, I heard a lot of good things about the volume million lashes. But the lipproducts will probably never be used, since the lipstick and lippencil are dark plum colours and the lipgloss looks too shimmery for my taste.
Why do they suggest a plum colour for a blonde? :blink: Seriously, when I have it on I look dead, even with blush on my cheeks.

my pic

The lipstick looks pinker on the pic, it's a lot darker irl. You'll see that I cleaned out the eyeshadow pan because I was planning on using the highlighter which was still intact, but you're basically applying glitter to your browbone instead of a highlighter:innocent:.

But I'm not complaining, I still have 5 products that I'm going to use :p.

^^I have this mascara as well and it's one of the best I've ever tried!

Yeah, in America L'Oreal is a normal drugstore brand (pretty mid-range in the drug store, not the cheapest stuff there but not the most expensive)... I wonder if the product is different in Europe because the quality of L'Oreal here is DEFINITELY not on par with high end brands for the most part! I'm actually kind of shocked and amazed that they market it differently overseas because it's just so normal here.

yeah, L'Oreal isnt that cheap over here in sweden ^ it's not considered a drug store brand here.
