Budget Friendly Makeup

The products are the same. I guess L'Oreal just knows that the average western European consumer has more dough to spend and they set their prices after that.

Brands like L'Oreal and Revlon aren't cheap where i live either (Argentina), but i assumed that it was because of the dollar/peso exchange rate.
Other brands like Maybelline or Rimmel are a bit cheaper, but way expensive if you consider people pay U$D6 for mascara in the US.

Still shouldn't be that high, even with the Euro being more than the dollar.

If L'Oreal is expensive there, I'd hate to think what price a brand like NARS or Dior would be.

A Dior mascara is about $40 in Denmark. I always find it hilarious when Americans complain about expensive cosmetics

Indeed! Going to the states is like going to some poor 3rd world country where everything is unbelievably cheap...but at least you understand the language  I'd go nuts in Sephora, that's for sure

^ esp now when the dollar is doing really bad =p (at least to us here in sweden)

^ Speaking of Avon gel liners, their Glimmersticks for the brows are wonderful. I'll never use anything else.

And I had NO idea that cosmetics were so highly-priced over seas. And I thought they were bad here!

Ditto :woot::ninja:. Not to forget MAC:innocent:.

oh, well i've only been to sephora(s) in new york =P so maybe that explains it.

I think it depends on the Sephora store..In some stores they have a lot of different brands and in others they don't.

lol so I guess we're getting a taste of what you guys have had to deal with for so many years, the "ugly American" type tourist, since our cities are now flooded with Europeans just looking for a bargain (although I was suprised when I was in Italy last month to still see so, so many American tourists but I guess because it was Italy which I think is going to be touristy no matter what)

but back on topic. reply to the MAC at Sephora question: at least here in the States, as far as I am aware, MAC has not been carried in Sephora for several years. But now that Bobbi Brown is just now starting to be carried in Sephora again after many years, so maybe more brands in the Estee Lauder group will start to be carried at Sephora in the future? who knows. there's nearly as many MAC stores as Starbucks anyways so it doesn't need to be in Sephora I don't think!

At sephora.com the diorsow mascara was $28 so it's not that big of a difference IMO..yeah 72NOK is money too don't get me wrong^_^
