Sales Associates are saying that the bag prices are in the $5,000 USD range for "small" bags and go up from there.

They're attributing it to a huge quality increase. Sure...

How?! $1'000 to $2'000 is reasonable for a bag at most luxury brands, but $6'000? For Burberry?

I could get something at a much more interesting house like YSL and Gucci for a couple thousand. Even Bottega and Loewe's core offering doesn't approach that price point despite being "artisanal leather specialist" houses.

Burberry only made sense when it was cut price. Burberry cant stand next to real houses.

I don’t remember the price of the bags for Burberry Prorsum but the RTW was expensive. What was interesting in the Burberry formula was that the inspiration from the runway trickled down to the other lines (I think BRIT was the most present in most retails).

I think the issue with a brand like Burberry is that they have no history or heritage in leather goods. Having high prices won’t legitimize the status they want to acquire. For me, a brand like Burberry should stick in the 700-2000£ price point. And they should avoid to the max the check in those bags. Maybe stick to fabrics and the emblem and maybe offer the classic check only on small leather goods.

They also have the problem of their outlets…Where I suppose most of the Riccardo’s stuff will be starting this fall.
