Can you judge people by the shoes they wear?

I can tell how into fashion they are... maybe how they prioritize comfort versus aesthetics. for the most part that's about it.

"Can you judge people by the shoes they wear?"

Yes I can, I can
judge their taste in footwear.

I think yes, you can judge their style aesthetic and from that often are made automatic judgements (correct or incorrect) about their personality. However really you can only judge someone by their shoes if they have are relatively affluent and can afford their dream shoes, or expensive shoes. Judging people who cannot afford the shoes they want and, money permitting, would have been wearing different footwear is absolutely ridiculous.

I had to write an essay in my english class on a very close prompt. I feel you can tell a lot about a person from their shoes. Judge is a very harsh word, I think we all observe.

Shoes are among the first things I look at on a person. Maybe it's just my personal obsession with them. You can tell their style, comfort level, and aesthetic. Also it's a great insight into a persons profession. :
D

I always look at a person 's shoes and i often get friends with people who wear beautiful shoes. I just think it have something to do with similar interests. I don't have friends that wear crocks for instance ^^

i think so...i think i can judge their taste in fashion and how detail they are into fashion. b/c usually ppl don't pay much attention to shoes...but if a person into shoes..she probably already into clothes. i would say it's a safe assumption if a gal has nice shoes..her wardrobe is also nice...shoes is the final touch of the outfit.

Mama says you can. ^_^ I always listen to what Mama says.

It's not a matter of fashion, really. More like, guys usually have less than 5 pairs -maybe even 3 pairs total- and if they all look like crap, you can tell he's lazy 'cuz he won't go to replace them. My friend slept with a guy and she said the biggest turn off was the guy who didn't buy a new pair of shoes. "When they start falling off my feet is when I'll replace them." :yuk: Disgusting.

I do it, but I'm pretty sure that I shouldn't. I have a thing for well kept footwear. Like if a guy's wearing rundown, dirty sneakers I assume that they don't keep up with their skin, hair, etc.

The bad part of it all is my college poor-dom, and the fact that I'm constantly busy has made it hard for me to keep my own shoes looking good and, I can barely afford new ones.

i have quite few rich friends, well at least their dads are millionaires, and one day he went to LV boutique with sandals, $20 thongs to be exact, and the SA did ignore him. then he picked 2 bags, 2 shoes, and paid cash, the SA was just speechless, in shame of course..

 I had a similar situation happen to me once. It just goes to show that you should never judge a book by it's cover.

But to answer the question NO! I judge their character if anything.

i try not to judge people by what they wear.
i mean, of course its quite obvious to do so...and in my opinion especially shoes can say quite a lot about a person.
for instance, not everyone would wear creepers.
or, its most likely that the girl with the peroxide blonde hair and the mini skirt will wear high heels
but overall i think shoes in particular, or clothes in general, cant tell you about a persons character, mindset or maybe even income.

If your talking about judging peoples personalities and character just by their shoes I think it's very silly and ridiculous. If your talking about their overall taste well yes, shoes have something to do with that. But sometimes shoes also say something about what kind of person is wearing them.

For instance, take some of my friends. One has been wearing the same pair of scuffed up brown expensive boots with loose soles for ages now, and it definitely says that she cares about status (very expensive boots) but she's not very fashionable and she's very sloppy and she doesn't care for her items. Friend number two absolutely loves her bright coloured Converse All Stars with flowers, and she is a very creative and open minded girl. Friend number three likes to wear her simple Ecco shoes, which aren't fashionable at all but always very clean, which reflects her because she doesn't care about fashion but she's a neatfreak.

I don't think it says a lot about me, though. I don't have one particular style - every morning when I wake up and get dressed I decide what I want to be like for that day. Today you could catch me wearing jeans, sneakers and a t-shirt and you could think that I'm very laidback and even sporty, although when you see me the next day I'll be wearing 5 inch heels and a bodycon dress and you could judge me in a very different way.
