Speaking about the honour of gracing the glossy cover of Britain's most esteemed fashion magazine, Cara told Vogue.co.uk: 'I didn't really believe it at first. I think it's something that as a kid you look up to so much.
'It's one of the most shocking things that has ever happened to me I think. I just stood back and had to get someone to pinch me. I was like: "What's going on?' I couldn't believe it."'
The blonde known and loved for her outgoing personality, added: 'It's always actresses, musicians, models and people who have done something great.
'Especially that it's British Vogue, it makes you so proud, they want great British people and I thought :"Am I really that person? You're crazy, you're crazy Vogue!'
In recent months alone, Cara has starred alongside Romeo Beckham in Burberry's SS13 campaign as well as been announced as the face of DKNY and walked in Karl Lagerfeld's Chanel haute couture show in Paris.
'At just 20 years old as well, it's so amazing. It doesn't really sink in until you actually see it- that cover, that magazine. it's so great,' Cara told Vogue.co.uk.
With autumn/winter fashion weeks fast approaching, Cara is likely to be walking the runway of fashion's most famous designers.
Speaking about starring as the cover girl of the prestigious March issue she said: 'Especially the March issue, it's the big fashion issue, so it's going to be pretty amazing.
'I'm going to run out of the shop with 20 in my hands, going: "Oh my God, this is me! Oh my God!" It's pretty funny.'
The model explains in the video that she was nervous about her big cover shoot but quickly realised that she had worked with all the team before.
She said: 'It was everyone that I've worked with until now who has helped me along so much, given me so much advice and made me who I am.
'I guess it was really nice, a good family feeling.'
