I agree with you, her performance was excellent and perfect for the role. Unfortunately, I do think that the big awards tend to favour showy roles which might detract from her chances, which is a pity. But that bias doesn't change the fact that she was incredible in An Education

certainly not all of them are the most flattering shots of Carey, still she manages to pull them off I think...she has a lovely animated face and doesn't seem to be one of those self conscious celebrities who always needs to pout and try to look pretty. i like that she isn't afraid to have some fun and make a face..
