^not to mention the fact that Michelle is a highly educated professional woman and Carla is more of a courtesan (this isn't a slur btw, courtesans were actually very charming, clever and influential women, not just common prostitutes)

^I'm kind of ashamed of the fact that I even know so much, but "courtesan" is actually a pretty good comparison. I had also read that Alberto pushed Carla to befriend important people as a child, in particular they wanted her to marry Prince Albert of Monaco I think? They wanted her to marry into a royal family is what the article I read said.

A female personal trainer has helped French president Nicolas Sarkozy improve his sex life since his marriage to ex-supermodel Carla Bruni, it emerged today.
Julie Imperiali, 26, concentrates on strengthening the perinea muscles at the bottom of the 5ft 6ins head of state’s pelvis.

Mrs Imperiali said she was not in the least bit embarrassed about improving the sex life of 53-year-old Mr Sarkozy, who was nicknamed ‘Speedy’ before his marriage to Carla, 41, a year ago.
‘The Anglo-Saxons are a bit prudish about this and say that they don't know what we are talking about,’ said Mrs Imperiali, adding: ‘His body has radically changed. He is a dream pupil. He is always ready and motivated.’
Mr Sarkozy had two failed marriages behind him when he got together with Carla, who was dubbed a ‘man eater’ following a string of high profile affairs with celebrities including Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton.
Mrs Imperiali arrives at the Elysée Palace in Paris on her scooter several times a week to give Mr Sarkozy a £150 work-out.
Discussions about personal matters often accompany the sessions, which involve stretching and running.
Mrs Imperiali said: ‘We talk about everything and nothing, sometimes about intimate matters.’
Mr Sarkozy's wife Carla introduced him to Miss Imperiali and her fitness regime
Mr Sarkozy has also cut down on his chocolate intake on Mrs Imperiali’s advice.
In the ten months since she has been working with Mr Sarkozy, Mrs Imperiali said he has lost 8.8lbs and gone down two trouser sizes.
Mrs Imperiali describes her patented work-out, which involves yoga and pilates, as the Tectonic method. She is currently marketing the system with her businessman husband, Marc Imperiali, who is from Belgium. The couple met when she was working at the upmarket Ritz hotel health club in the French capital.
She met Carla there in 2004 too, at a time when the future first lady was a single woman about town, once boasting that ‘monogamy bores me’.

this gym is such a joke! I stayed in ritz once and had to work out there - I was really surprised by that gym /they say is one of the best in Paris?/- it had no equipment at all and it was tiny...

I simply adore her music- her singing. She is so cool. I remember her from back in the day in all the magazines. She came a long way didn't she??

Showing her move into politics haven't dimmed her fashion roots, the 41-year-old singer was the epitome of Gallic chic as she arrived at the annual Gala Sidaction-Diner de la Mode in the French capital last night.
On a day when one million French workers took to the streets in protest at her husband Nicolas's handling of the economic crisis, Bruni-Sarkozy was partying in a Yves Saint Laurent column dress.

Thirty rioters were arrested and 22 police officers hurt during the 'Black Thursday' clashes over the Government's perceived failure to protect jobs.
But Mrs Bruni-Sarkozy could happily forget all that as she dressed to the nines and mixed with the cream of fashion and Hollywood.
Her solo engagement came just days before the couple celebrate their first wedding anniversary on Monday.
On her arm was Pierre Berge, the president of the Sidaction AIDS charity which organised the bash.
Also in attendance at the star-studded bash was burlesque artist Dita Von Teese, supermodel Laeticia Casta, model/actress Milla Jovovich, singer Vanessa Paradis, actress Mischa Barton and celebrity couple Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson.
The annual dinner, which takes place during Paris Fashion Week, was held in the ornate 18th century hunting lodge Pavillon d'Armenonville.

A-list stars from all around the globe joined the throng in the French capital to see the new season designs.
In keeping with the high-glamour theme, celebrities were clad in couture from top French designers, including Jean-Paul Gaultier, Christian Lacroix and Sonia Rykiel.
Mrs Bruni-Sarkozy wasn't the only celebrity female flying solo last night .
French model-turned singer Vanessa Paradis, 36, looked svelte in a pink satin mini dress as she partied without her long-term partner Johnny Depp.
Earlier this month, reports claimed the pair were finally preparing to wed this year after dating for 11 years and having two children Jack, six, and Lily-Rose, nine.

Also alone was Spanish actress Elsa Pataky, 32, the rumoured fiancee of actor Adrien Brody, who opted for a more low-key little black dress.

The cream of French society had paid 500 Euros each for a ticket for the exclusive event, which raised over 800,000 Euros for Berge's Sidaction charity.
