Carol Christian Poell - Designer

yes ..i think they are long on purpose...
and yes...i think you will take away from the intention by shortening them...

ann demeulemeester also has long sleeves...
i like the look...but it really is not practical at times...

Very interesting article that I just came across. It mentions Haute, Carol Christian Poell, and other small, non commercial labels. I hope this hasn't been posted before.

Haha, raijin, I found this while doing a Yahoo! search on Carol Christian Poell. Also, on the second page on the search to your profile.

Its been posted 2 times, once in this thread already I believe.

Thanks for the link though, :flower:

Haute is actually getting pretty commercial these days.
I think its better to get thier stuff before that happens.

Yeah, its because of the lack of publicly available information on the web.

arturo dear...what are you doing?...
we have a thread on riccardo tisci...and this collection already...:flower:

  :(

Gee..everything I post has already been posted. Sorry all..:flower:

I didn't see the thread. Although,Softie, no offense..but does it hurt anybody to post something twice? It only informs more people. Plus, I did say "on the side"...:flower:

Doesn't matter though. :)

Yeah, Jeffrey got their deliveries in. It's nice, but I suppose in that space, the haute line looks very... mainstream.

Only six pairs of the pony boots? How much did they cost?

actually ...it creates a big jumble and makes things harder to find...as well as taking up extra server space which slows down the whole system...

that's why it matters my dear...
no offense intended...i just thought you knew that already...:flower:

CCP (would also be very interested to see if they have the re-introduced women's collection), Carpe Diem/Linea, Ann Demeulemeester. Do they carry Dirk Schonberger?

Faust

I checked out all of these (other than Dirk). My thoughts, for what they are worth. Some (but not all) of this is lightly off topic.

Ann Dem I though was the best of the three. The summer collection clothes are light (fabrics), well made, modest, simple but with enough details to make them interesting and reasonably priced. Tried on a grey PoW suit in crumpled mercerised cotton - v nice. Also really liked the prange leather biker, but (a) too orange for real life for me and (b) was not inexpensive! Womenswear also v nice - esp liked the fragile bias cut knitwear.

Still don't really get the whole CD/linea thing, or rather, I really don't think it's my style at all, so I can't even get into justifying the frightening prices. To be honest there's nothing wrong with the clothes, it's just that I can't see what the big thing is with them. I looked at the banana pants but they seems really really long - didn't know what to do with them really. I also stand by my view that it's a little like f**ked up calvin klein. Saw some people who looked very good wearing it though. Also saw one pair of pants that I liked - two different types of grey cotton, one light (at front) and one heavier.

CCP. First time looking at this in person. Find the shirts and tees dull. The leathers are stunning, esp the burgundy long coat, but there's just no way I can assimilate that into my wardrobe. It's quite a dark, gothic look, esp the way it's marketed in L'Eclairuer. The blazers and jackets were also lovely - one in particular in black raw silk. I like the way they're cut, as raijin has pointed out, with peak shoulders, very saville row influenced. TBH though, I'd rather pay that kind of money for proper Saville Row. I was very very close to buying a pair of his shoes though, in the bashed up burgundy leather. They were quite beautiful in a way, but I decided against for a number of reasons - (a) they were very expensive (b) they don't look that good with jeans and (c) I think that they'd be wasted on me since I'd wear them about twive a month. They deserve a better home!! Anyway, I can understand the appeal of CCP, certainly more than CD.

How were the prices on CCP. Johnny?

Did they have S/S 05 bombers?

Im glad you noticed the raw black silk piece, apparently its a show-stopper of s/s 05 but not many people ordered it.

I've never seen it either.

Raijin, I only know for sure the price of the shoes I was thinking of getting - which was Euro 860. They did have the bombers, but not the transparent one, which was something I'd have liked to have seen. The "normal" bombers were very nice too though - the "shaped" arms were quite interesting, sort of preformed and stiffened. I think the bombers were about Euro2700 but can't be sure.

You'd like the back silk think raijin, definately, but you can't really wear it casually if you know what I mean, not to work if you work as a professional. I would say its a special occassion piece. Very beautiful though.

Thanks a lot for the update, Johnny.

It seems CCP prices are better in europe than the US.

Im glad you have enjoyed your trip!

You're very welcome raijin, and thanks. I see you ordered the CCP boots - the shoes I was thinking abot were the same shape as the boots (but obviously didn't have the zip). Hope you enjoy when they arrive.
